We are not out of any race for Gaff or Sloane and yes I have been told there might be something in those rumours. However I can't see it.

At this moment in time I think we go to the draft with both picks and if the deal comes up we trade out next year's first.

We will no doubt have an interesting conversation with the crows come Monday morning. However I think we will want no part with lever for 2 firsts. They will want to TRY make a statement with who they trade him too similar to how essendon tried to screw us with the Jake.

I don't think we are out of equation for stringer. I just don't think we are the front runner. I can see us coming home hard if the price drops to a second rounder as speculated.

Lastly, I think we all agree we are one inside mid 2 many. Could we possibly try move Dunstan in a Sloane deal? Gives Adelaide a midfield youngster and potential captain and leader. Gives us a gun mid and maybe we find a later pick for Sloane in the first round? Just speculating out load

FWIW I'd be pretty down on trading dunstan to get Sloane in. Dunstan will never be the footballer Sloane is, but he is becoming a very nice player and will be around long after Sloane has retired.

Play the long game and keep dunstan.

I agree we are one inside mid too many, but I would've thought Steele and Dunstan were the 2 ones we wanted to keep. Move on koby/armo etc

We could very well try that. However this only comes off if Sloane nominates. It's very hard to make certain or what's rumour and truth at this time of the year. Keg on legs your last part about Dustin is very much why I am comfortable with our future. Youngest team in the league. However our players are all rounding into good footballers. I see a bright future similar to the hawks in 08/09 minus the flag. We need some senior quality to come support them now

Something I have questioned too. I think we are asking no doubt. Haynes and Smith for 8 is something I would do. But I am really keen to keep 7+8 and trade next year's. Back ourselves to finish top 6. We are good enough. Kick straight and I think we would of been there this year.

Look I agree on being careful when not overpaying for players but please can we not chuck out players that have potential to be bloody important to our list?
Why would you chuck out one of the younger bulls? One who in the last 6 weeks seemed to have things finally click for him? The kid who has shown that he is St Kilda at heart. Why would we want another club to have a potential leader and captain? I want us to have that not give it to another club.

I think west coast came to us and said we want this for gaff and we told them to stick their beaks where the sun don't shine. Regardless of this boards opinion Acres is highly rated and for much of the first half of his draft year he was touted top 5 even top 3 until he hurt his shoulder. Players his size take time. He can accumulate the ball as good as elite mids

It's an area we have plenty of depth in. You have to give to get and Sloane would give us a strong midfield and allow jack to play forward more or on the outside etc. Can't have everything our own way.
