Gutted for the bloke. I had a young brother (who had three very young kids, all close to mine) die from cancer while I was starting a PhD in the hardest possible maths field. During that year I couldn't get out of bed for a week on end more than once. Pressure, especially internal pressure to thrive in a competitive field, is the last thing you need when trying to deal with tragedy. The hardest thing about something like this is that you would normally turn to your parents for support but they are probably hurting even more than you because no one should bury their baby, no matter how big and ugly they get.

The wheel can turn and there is still time for him, with a contract till the end of next year. If he comes back and gets some form anytime before that I for one will probably shed a tear or two of joy for the bloke. Just like I did when Rama kicked that goal in his comeback game.

That is terrible, Dansin. Coincidenly, I learnt the meaning of the word sonder today. It is quite apt.

Great word DERO I am glad there is a word to describe it. It is something that I have always considered and probably let to an existential crisis. For a long time I was obsessed that all we really are is just a brain recording the sensory driven experiences and information gathered through language as well as the ideas that are generated by these bouncing around our head. Once we die that universe that we have built up in our brain dies with it. ... anyway . there's a squirrel.

Francis hasn't done anything on a footy field in his two years that indicate that he can make the grade. Both Adelaide and Port Adelaide have pretty good lists and given Francis' history he was certainly a risk to take on.
I can't agree with the bolded. It was only one game but his debut was promising as all hell.

He's shown glimpses, fleeting as they may have been.

5 or 6 contested marks wasn't it? It was by far his best game and enough for him to go into the next season as favourite for rising star.

Need to be seen as a club that looks after players after what we have been through. Support him with all the power the club has and hope for the best outcome for both parties. Its all we can do here.

Coaching basketball and working part-time away from the club. Sounds like he's on the improve :)
"I caught up with Aaron yesterday (in Melbourne), he's actually in a really good space," Heppell told AFL.com.au.

"It's great to hear that he's pursuing a couple of other things outside of footy while he's away from the club and I think he's really enjoying that.

"(He's been doing) a bit of part-time work and got into a bit of coaching at a basketball group, (it) gets him around a few of the kids and (he) shares his knowledge there."
"Whether or not he comes back to the club anytime soon, that'll be his call to make.

"It's a bit of an ongoing process with Azza, I'm just stoked to see he's in quite a healthy space at the moment.

“As a playing group, we’re all right behind him.”
