Do you see any chance that the Crows or Port are able to get Lukosius, Rozee or the freak of a player called Rankine ? As much as would love any of them I see the romance in the possibility of these boys playing for the club they barracked for or to stay in their home state.
The only chances Imo is that either club have a disasterous year or get a top 5 pick from a Sloane/Wines trade.

chance that the Crows finish around 7th or 8th. if that happens then Rozee is a chance for sure.

Trade currency would surely be the only option, can’t see either team finishing outside the 8.
Trade wise I reckon you should cash when the value is high and you are balanced with the list.
It was imperative that the Crows keep Sloane after Dangerfield left, going forward the trade me may be right to cash in and go a local like Rankine or Rozee.

Hey Grundog, awesome read as always. What's your opinion on Buku Khamis at this stage?
Love his athleticism and kicking. Could see him being a national fraft pick as he is so advanced for a player his age as a third tall.

No mention for Stefan Radovanovic from Western Jets.

B & F last season as bottom ager.
Others had more impressive seasons but I agree that Stefan is a very talented player. One im going to be looking closely at in 2018

As the year starts to kick off there has been some big news in terms of the talent pathways. WA have created an u16s round robin to be played before picking an u16 Academy which hopes to emulate the success of talent programs like the u16 SANFL u16s and the TAC cups u16 Vic Country and Vic Metro carnivals which also run early in the season. This should hopefully make the pathway more streamlined and ensure that the majority of talent is in the states talent pathway. Another development in WA football is that Jason Carter could be playing for Peel Thunder under an agreement which would require him to play 5 games of Senior WAFL football in 2018. This is because of Carters NGA status which will allow him to be taken by Fremantle under the bidding system and this move would allow him to build closer ties to Fremantle before draft time like a player in the Northern Academies would do with its sides reserve team in the NEAFL.

SA have had there first trial match for the year and the usual suspects have dominated once again. Jack Lukosius was played in defence as he did back in the u16s for his state as well as on the wing in a Nick Riewoldt type role. He gathered a game high 25 disposals and 14 marks to be named best on ground. Jackson Hately also impressed as a taller player up forward. At 192 cm, the tall midfielder showed off his marking talent down forward in a commanding display where he kicked 3 goals. This is a performance that could raise his overall stocks as he can play a Fyfe type role for a team as midfielder who can also rest up forward and impact the contest. Izak Rankine showed off his talent in a unfamiliar role off half back while Hugo Munn played a strong game up forward kicking 2.2 for the day and taking some strong marks down forward. Of the lesser known players Tom Lewis was hard at it with 19 disposals to go with his 17 tackles, Malachai Ahmett-Lovett was crafty around goals kicking 3 for the day and Mihail Lochowiuak showing some flash and dare off halfback in a strong display for the Adelaide NGA prospect. There is no lack of depth for SA for there state team and could be looking at a bumper year for the state in terms of players drafted.

In the NEAFL there have been some good u17 and u18 signing s for the NT Thunder for 2018. One of those is u16s MVP winner for the Teritory Dominic Forbes. Forbes has played senior football for Federals FC in Alice Springs and his move to the Thunder team should give him more exposure to scouts and to the requirement of professional athletes. Jackson Cole is another player who the NT have added to their list. Cole is a 188 cm, 71 kg defender who has played 14 games of senior football in the CAFL and was good in his games at u16 level last year. Shawn Foster is another player who signed and is a small midfielder who can go forward and kick a goal. Some other players signed include 18 year old Rodney Baird who was selected to play Allies in 2017 but got injured and wiry goal kicker Adam Sambono is back for another season.

Awesome work as always Grun.

Hadn’t read about the U16 WA Academy yet but it sounds like a great thing and will get talented younger teens in an elite talent pathway earlier rather than just straight into U18’s.

Not sure if it’s solely a Mick Ablett influenced call but it’s good that he is putting things in place early.

Hopefully I’ll see him around the local footy traps during the year.

I think Mick Abletts appointment was the best thing that could happen to the WA pathway. He'll bring some more professionalism to the system and I think WA could become the second leading producer of drafted players consistently if everything goes to plan.

Tarryn Thomas will fall under the same arrangement.

North has announced an agreement with the TSL.

All Tasmanian players under 21 will be eligible for selection for the North VFL side.

Should see Chayce Jones and Tarryn Thomas play a few games in the VFL this year.

Hopefully they both get a run at VFL level and maybe even some mature age Tasmanians get a crack

Training only.

U18 players in Victoria can’t play with AFL/VFL unless their TAC teams have finished for the year.
