Honestly thought we were in trouble at halftime. City brilliant, they took risks and caused us all sorts of problems. Gifted the first goal with a silly mistake by Van Dijk, and were unlucky with the offside call for the 2nd. That puts them 2-3 down on aggregate instead of 1-3, and you've probably got a different game on your hands. Refereeing was poor as Magma predicted, card happy is an understatement. What a w***er.

Having said that, with the way City set up and our potency going forward there was next to no chance we weren't scoring at least once in this game, so City still would've had a mountain of work to do in the 2nd half even if that offside goal had stood.

Second half we stepped up and were much braver in possession in playing through City's press, and for the periods we were on top we were ruthless and took our chances. 5 shots, 3 on target, 2 goals vs City's 20 shots, 3 on target, 1 goal tells a story I think.

Equally at the other end for the vast majority of the game I thought our back 4 defended resolutely. I don't know whether it's coaching or personnel with Van Dijk and Robertson coming in, but we've improved out of sight over the course of the season. We're not Sacchi's Milan but I don't think Liverpool's defence can be pointed to as a weakness anymore.

Idiotic post. Messi's scored countless against Real and of course shitloads in the CL including finals. It's impossible to perform always, when Portugal won the Euros Ronaldo did very little while Pepe was immense.

Saying that, I'm glad Roma won as it's boring seeing the same teams in the latter stages of the Cl, time after time.

True. Messi has never done well against good teams while Ronaldo has never been knocked out of the CL before.

As for country, if only it was that simple to blame Messi for all that's gone wrong with Argentina. It's hard to discuss with those who believe that drawing 4 games (Hungary, Iceland, Austria and Poland), beating Croatia and Wales and barely playing in the final proves you're a legend in international football.

You should always tell these guys off. I eat vegan myself and I can't stand that behaviour. I know there are a lot of loud militant vegans out there but I still think that's a personality thing. Vegans and vegetarians I know myself all go quietly about their lifestyle and don't harass anyone.

My point is, If Ron performed like Messi did today there would be coverage all over the place about how he failed to get Madrid through that he's selfish and only thinks of himself.
