Wow..watching the tribunal comments..they want 4 to 5 weeks for him(because of who he is) and the Geelong very unfavourable medical report.

This yet again. The next player of ours that gets hit, put in a report that they were borderline almost killed. I'm tired of our club doing the old fashioned one of minimising any outcome, whilst every other club sells us down the river. **** them. I think we do tend to use him. He hasn’t achieved great results for us in the past.

Edit: I should say that the player’s advocate job in this is a hard one. From what I have seen reported, no-one has worked out the best approach yet.

PORT Adelaide’s Lindsay Thomas has been hit with a lengthy ban his lawyer says is “crushing” to his hopes of playing in 2018.
THE AFL tribunal has banned Port Adelaide forward Lindsay Thomas for three games after he pleaded guilty to rough conduct.
Thomas was referred directly for his bump that concussed Geelong onballer Scott Selwood.
The Power goalsneak is out for a total of four games because he also did not challenge a separate one-match suspension for striking Cats captain Joel Selwood.

The Tribunal has now retired to consider its verdict. I think Selwood escape suspension because I think the jury won't be satisfied both that he (a) intended to strike Thomas and (b) that the blow was of sufficient force.

Will get a fine if it's found to be careless, or be thrown out if not of sufficient force.

Its dawned on me what looks dodgey about this incident.

Scott Selwood didn't even raise a hand to his head after the collision.
If he was hit in the head that's the first thing he would have done.

That’s because he was unconscious.

After attending a Concussion in Sports forum last week (mostly AFL focused) the reaction by Selwood in raising both hands up in the air after he ends up on his back is a typical involuntary reaction that happens when someone is knocked out.

All things considered I think 3 weeks was not unreasonable.
