Speaking of highest winning margins that are unusually low, North Melbourne have never beaten Essendon by more than 10 goals. Remarkably enough, their highest winning margin (59 points) came in 1985 when Essendon totally dominated the comp and lost just 3 games.
The only other time North have beaten Essendon by more than 50 points was in 1992 which was actually North Melbourne's poorest year of the 1990s (and curiously enough, was played at Princes Park).
But in their early years, North Melbourne struggled even more to get even a moderate-sized win against the Dons; from 1925 to 1984 their biggest win was only 33 points!
