There is one though? It just wouldn't work at all in general play.

When teams have the ball they generally move it quickly down the ground over the top and go for a score. Its when ball in dispute that it gets tedious. Who is the clock running against then? Not shots for goal. Just have it in general play, problem solved

You really thought this one throughBoth teams get a penalty
Moving kickouts forward might mean clubs prioritize goal kicking accuracy a bit more than they do now...Extending the goalsquare/kick-ins seems to give an undeserved advantage to the defending team.
i.e. The attacking team has managed to get it all the way down their end for a score, and now the biggest kick in the opposition can just launch it all the way into their half from the resulting kick-in.
You may as well just take it back to the centre square for a bouncedown after every behind.
Oh dear god, have I just come up with a brand new rule that someone might take seriously?
Ok in theory but some grounds lends themselves to higher scoring than others. Especially Docklands when it's raining on all other grounds!
Can we please leave it alone for a few years and maybe it might self resolve. Instead we will inject another 10 rules every off season in an attempt to catch a tail that isnt there.[/QUOTE
He has his own committe with Gil anyway. I think he has an unspoken veto power in relation to what the committee decides - as it should be.Can't go to a current coach as they are always going to go for rules that would benefit their own club.
Particularly because they can’t pick it up off the ground.Removing the prior opportunity rule will mean players will be reluctant to take possession in congestion and might actually make the rolling mauls even worse. Could get passages where 15 blokes are in a pack just soccering it around.
Who came up with that ludicrous suggestion anyway??Particularly because they can’t pick it up off the ground.

Yep. One of the few sports in the world where teams don't actually have to work to get the ball into their attacking zone. It's essentially a given.Basketball with all it's shot clocks and transitions is probably the fastest moving and scoring sport in the world... it's also by far the most boring.
Can you pick it up off the ground if wearing gloves? That’s kinda not with your hands isn’t it?Who came up with that ludicrous suggestion anyway??
