As to the suspension.

8 weeks and no participation in pre-season matches or even some of the training. Forced to train on his own and made to earn a spot back and ultimately respect.

Gaff made a mistake today. I don't know why ? He was on top of the game. He was not being tagged. There was no thing that lead up to the incident. He will have to go to work on Monday and face his victims brother. Probably miss finals footy. May be his last game for wc. Should lose $ in his next contract. It's going to cost him.
Young brays is 18. He lives for his footy & hasn't got a nasty bone in his body. He will miss the rest of the season. Shitty way to end your inaugural year.
What I really don't understand is the West coast supporting crowd. When is it cool to coward punch a kid ? When is it ok to cheer an act of weak violence? It's not Australian. It's not afl. You guys are the worst crowd in the afl. You need to take your yellow and blue glasses off & ask when is it not about sport. And if it is not you. You need to ask whoever is sitting next to you why this behaviour is acceptable. It's not soccer. It's not mma. It's a family game.

Didn't return, went to surgery to undergo surgery as we speak. Mills played the following week as he passed his concussion test and had no injuries.

The other thing that really infuriates me in these situations is the comments “it's so out of character” “he`s never done anything like this”.

Yeah, the number of current players who have in the AFL you can count on one hand. Extending that to junior and amateur careers the number of current players who have would still be very low. Players don't do this these days. Never before having punched someone in the face and breaking their jaw is not a defence when you just ******* have. Neither have 43 other players out there, Gaff wasn't special beforehand for never having done it and he shouldn't receive a discount. Just like Houli`s tribunal was a farce because he can be a role model in the community and be a great religious man all he likes, but he still punched a player out cold and that's all that should matter.

But I think someone else said he has never even received a melee fine - doesn't excuse the act, or mitigate the punishment, but certainly suggests it was a massive brain fade.

Can I just put it out there that every West Coast fan is surprised that it came from Gaffy. He has never been anything but a fair player, I don’t think he has ever even been cited for anything in his playing history.

I don’t think he meant to hit Bradshaw in the head, but he did and he will pay the price and so will the team.

Anyone suggesting that he is some type of baby killing thug though should have a good hard look at themselves.

I was listening on the radio and it sounded like standing ovation. Mind you, there was no replay at the ground of what happened.

Lot of emotion here and its understandable but calm required. Let process happen. I'd expect 6 weeks. A really foolish act by a player who has an outstanding record. Attack what he did by all means but the personal vitriol does not help.

Someone people seem to have difficulty separating a dog player with a dog act. I’d definitely put Gaff in the latter.

Based off recent incidents (Houli, Bugg, Cameron) this will go 6-8 (should be the higher end).
3-4 would be laughable. Almost as laughable as anyone suggesting an entire season.

In answer to the question of the thread it wont be his last game for the Eagles if we make the Grand Final, but that task just got a whole lot harder.

Give him 7 just to make sure he can’t play this year. If he can do that in a derby as a Brownlow favourite with upcoming finals, what is he capable of in a grand final?

Not sure you understand.. the supporters and players were getting behind one of our own, not necessarily condoning the act but realising he ****** up. People make mistakes mate, he’ll get his punishment but he’s still an Eagle and still an AFL footballer so we get behind him. Not defending the act, defending the person..

To me it's just an act that would see you deregistered if you did it 3 or 4 times. It's not a minor incident that everyone just sort of gets involved in like a jumper punch (jumper pull these days) or a shove after a mark.
