Agree. If we don't get someone like Collins, Rowe is a very handy list player for another year. Big body role player that can fill several roles whilst others develop

The season is now over Soapy and i cant cop this anymore.
Rowe is absolutely finished at AFL level and must be farewelled.
We have Marchbank Weitering Plowman Jones and Macreadie on the list.
We will draft B.Silvagni and possibly trade for McGovern along with the option of taking Collins with a special assistance PP.
Rowe might be a lovely fella and all the rest of it but his time as a CFC player must surely have come.
Thankyou for your efforts Sam ,
Goodbye and good luck.

We have so many rumours on players regarding draft and ready made in the system players
Though can’t all fit in.

Won’t know until later. That’s a positive

Once again we actually outran the opposition last night according to the tracker. There isn't a lack of effort. It's knowing the system and lack of experience.

That's just as worrying but in a different way.

All year we've shown in many games a complete lack of cohesion and players clearly not understanding what they're supposed to do in their role in the structure/gameplan.

It hasn't really improved at any point this year. This concerns me about our coaching group.

Yeah we have quite a lot of kids, but we still shouldn't be getting pumped by 100 points and 10+ goals this year so regularly.

2016-17 were at or above expectations.

2018 has been horrendous, with mitigating circumstances. A coach doesn't survive two of these sorts of years in a row.

Yep jobs are on the line next year...we're committed to a rebuild but if we have another 2-4 win season in year 4 under Bolton...

This. We are decently stocked for KPD's anyway, especially if we draft one more like Collins.

Nice guy, but Rowe offers nothing offensively, turns it over regularly and makes some howlers defensively...he can never catch running talls like Jenkins and efforts like the one where he was shrugged by first gamer Himmelberg on the boundary sums it up.

Time to cut the chord...just like Casboult we should be moving past these 2 for younger players.

He's just an animal- he doesn't have "feelings"......

That's hurtful. No wonder he withdrew from society.

Supporters are tired of the big thrashings I guess, because last season they had stopped being so frequent and we were much more competitive in most games.......but this year has left people with too little to hang their hat on. Today was over before half time and seeing Cripps trying to carry the team on his shoulders is flattening also.........so it is as bad as people "MAKING OUT" are in a lot of ways.

Would have been a lot more fun than watching the game.......

All this angst over the results of a couple of simple truths.

1. Carltons midfield as on display last night - lacks the size and skill set required to match it with bigger and more skilled users of the ball; and
2. No coach can put together a game plan with any chance of success when the midfield turns the ball over pretty much with every possession.

The fix isn't getting rid of Bolton or listening to proven idjots like King - the 'fix' is actually getting a midfield together that can play AFL quality football. This will require the addition of 2-3 developed bodies of AFL quality AND continuing to do the time with developing players.

Get rid of constant turnovers, get bodies in place that can actually keep their feet in contests and get bodies in place who can actually execute handballs to advantage and 20 meter kicks would be a great start.
Blokes like Lang/Kerridge/Mullett/Wright are coach killers ( Ed and Murphy are now in that camp as well) - they are all old enough to be better - the simple truth is that they aren't AFL quality players - and no team can afford to carry 2 let alone 5 or six of these types every game and expect to be able to develop kids who aren't up to the rigours of AFL contested football at the same time.

What was on display last night was Bolton having to pretend he had 22 AFL players when in fact he had about 10.

Very easy to point the finger at coaching and game plan - and ignore the harsh truth that everyone knows - Carlton's list and depth is currently third rate in too many positions and the only fix for that is adding better options and continuing to develop better quality.

All the jokers in here who refused to understand just how terrible list management was under previous regimes and the utter stupidity of the 'chosen ones' strategy are now reaping the consequences - alongside every other sad Carlton supporter.

Fortunately in Cripps/Charlie/Harry/Weitering/Marchbank/Docherty/Fisher/Dow/LoB/Byrne/Kennedy/Cuningham/Williamson/Plowman there is a core of decent genuine AFL quality to build on. The whole 66 game rebuild was a thought bubble to buy time for a new regime - Carlton can get to middling status in quicker time than most imagine - but genuine legitimate can beat anyone on a day status - is about 10 players and a minimum 2 yrs away all going well.

If it makes people feel better to blame the coach or expect more from deckchairs who just don't have it in them to deliver more - they are just substituting 'entitlement' for reality.

The game last night wasn't a 'nightmare' it was just another dose of reality.

The side will be much better performing next year and even better again the year after - because Bolton will be forced to carry fewer and fewer non AFL players each year.

I'm going to be seriously ****ed off if we leave another player hanging on 99 games.
He's worth keeping for 1 more year as backup.

We need wheels big time in the middle

Shandog you know these statistics can be misleading as its most likely a case of too much being left to too few .
Certainly agree with your thoughts in general but imo was exemplified by a lack of run and effort by some .
You simply dont lose that embarrassingly by giving it your best shot .
Sorry to say it but the white flag was raised by too many the effort of the group as a whole wasnt there .

Stats can totally be misleading - they aren't information, that's for sure. So the question is how does this happen consistently all year and yet we get pumped? Could definitely be too few doing all the work. But I'm not so sure that 3-4 underperforming players can turn into some of the losses we've had. Seems way to simple and single-reason solutions are rarely right in complex problems. Australian Football is one of the most complex team sports there is.

So maybe it's some players not doing anywhere near enough work, but it can't just be that. My guess is a larger problem that relates to how we defend and attack. A system that isn't working makes players run twice as far to achieve the same result etc. Maybe that's coaching, maybe it's inexperienced players not knowing when and where to go. Could be all of them.

Yep absolutely we have many problems i agree .
Most of them can be rectified with the right personnel and continuity hopefully that comes next year .

Maybe, but I like the guy and we've all seen this year what happens when there is a lack of depth.
It depends also on the players who come into the club. Going to be interesting.

We cant base our list management around personal likes and player milestones.
All the best Sam ...

We are still young and developing. Our key defenders are young and talented. Rowe for another year makes sense to me as a back up. Can play forward, back or ruck. Ideally he would play reserves all year and lead the NB's.
