End of Year Report on the FUTURE of Collingwood FC. All this talk on the draft has made me look back and see how our kids went...
Heath Shaw; Been the most consistent, VERY exciting prospect. Next year, or year after, midfield gun. But definitely the Buckley-type midfielder in a few years to come.
Travis Cloke; Our best young forward, a fight between him and Sean Rusling for that mantle of #1 tall forward for Collingwood in years to come. Both very exciting prospects. The 'Rocca/Tarrant' duo of Collingwood in 3-4 years, hopefully they are more successful in winning us Premierships.
John Anthony & Daniel Stanley; Both foggy prospects who have shown some on and off form in the VFL. JA has been getting more raps and is more likely of the two to debut this year. As some have spoken, he seems like the Clement replacement in a few years, should be interesting to see how he goes about his game in the next 18 months in the AFL. Stanley has also shown some potential.
Ben Davies & Scott Pendlebury; Midfield-trainees, both have shown that they are capable of handling the pressure cooker of the AFL. Pendlebury especially is looking to be a future midfield star of the AFL, hoepfully. I see Davies as going good aswell, no matter what has been said recently. Dane Swan would be in this category aswell.
Harry O'Brien & Nick Maxwell; The backline of the Collingwood FC along with Jason Cloke and JA in 2-3 years. Will be unbeatable if live upto potential shown. Julian Rowe, possibly.
Dale Thomas; Last but not least. A James Hird-type player (Not saying he will be Hirdy) He will be that magical player who pops up every now and then to win matches for us, not as consistently as Hird but in that sort of unstoppable when firing mold. No set position for this one, can be a midfielder one week, a loose backmen the next and then move up and play as a phenomenal small forward after. Chris Egan would be similiar, but more of a forward, relief midfielder.
What does everyone think?
