Everyones way to quick to write off Murph ..
Relinquished captaincy and a healthy rig he could get back to his best next year ..
Trying to be everything for everyone is a major burden, and now that's done he could surprise a few ..

And a 20% increase across the board and watch his flair and run come back.

But Iv just had a few tequilas so I may have just waisted your time reading this post.
Grain of salt.

Lot of people here waiting for Murph to retire and peel of Hundred after Hundred for university, and Fitzroy Donny cursing.

At the moment for the last year and half ED has been forced by Bolts to move away from his natural midfield role which is a negating but rebound midfielder …. to a pure extraction and slightly outside mid.

When our midfield grows in depth and skill we will need that lock down mid that can punish the other way to hold our midfield defensive structure in place.
we do and he does it best. i dont think anyone else on our list can do it better.

Unfortunately others see him as a one trick pony ….. but his DE, Meteres gained and pretty much every stat improved this year …… but we couldn't get to use him at his best position …… ED is a beast …. a running machine …. a negating machine ….

What pisses me off is people talk up Scully …. (for arguments sake) as a running machine ….

Umm... need to look at KM's covered per game to put that right in perspective.

Hey Cis, I'm just sipping down a few single malts so your not wasting my time...

Murph looked a little distracted to me last year...like the weight of the world was on his shoulders. I'm tipping with the weight of the captaincy off his shoulders, he's gonna be that link player with the class we need next year.

Love the Smurph, and **** any Carlton supporter who says otherwise
He was captaining a team that had its worst season in history, brought back to early had to play injured and his soldiers were going down like nine pins. its a heavy load to carry and not many cut him some slack. Murph was never going to be our inside bull but with Judd leaving he had to also play that role and his body and mind paid for it.

If he gets himself fit and is allowed to play the outside role i feel we can get a couple of good years out of him.

Then stick him in a forward pocket to see out his days as a ONE club man.

Should be good for 25+ goals.

FYI Murphy was 91 st in league for tackles.

FYI this was the centreline in the AA team this year:

Sidebottom 3.7 (avg tackles per game)
Martin 2.2
Gaff 3.0

Murphy 4.0

Exactly, anyone ever try running the Km's Ed does whilst still being involved in a constant wrestle negating your opponent and still accumulating over 20 possessions. Scully is a gut runner but not hard ball beast like Ed. If Ed had silky disposal skills we would be having a Jizz fest weekly over his efforts.

Murphy struggles with his tackling due to his shoulders. Opponents are often able to get free and still dispose of the ball.

For Murphy to be effective next year, he needs to play more outside and spend some more time up forward. Cripps, Ed, Kennedy and Setters to do most of the inside work.

Which part are you disappointed with? Us offered our future 1st or GC rejecting?

Either way, I doubt it's true now that we've got rid of our future 2nd rounder, we can't trade our future 1st unless the AFL allow it.

Ways around it though, trade out our future 1st for a quality player + future later 1st, or any future 2nd
