Would do it in a heartbeat.

And it would take that...

But it will not happen.

I was actually waiting for this to pop up again though...

Having a late crack at Kelly
Pick 1 + Future first on the table
GWS not interested, looking to tie Kelly up on a long term deal

#Bluemour
So GWS not interested in dealing this year. Kelly not interested in moving this year. This should be an interesting one to follow

Exactly, especially after th Dylan Shiel drama let these Prima donnas go on their way.
Walsh will be very good and we'll snare another midfielder next year top 5 is well stocked with quality. They'll be our men and we're staying with the play doing it our way.
May take a little longer but look out in 2.ton3 years time.

GWS would never get a better offer than mentioned, it's a ridiculously high price to pay.
I'd rather Walsh this draft and Rowell next year, any day of the week.

Yep, its the more reasonable thing to do and develop our own. They aren't getting an offer like this from no one else though, massive price yet he is worth it.

Would be amazing to see him in navy blue, but just cant see it. I mean, surely not?

What's with all this future first trade talk?

If I recall correctly, once we trade something out of next year's draft, we can't trade away anything more from the same draft (unless the future pick has come from another club).

So all this talk doesn't necessarily excite me because I know for one that it can't happen. Unless there has been a rule change in the last couple of years which I don't know about.

Think you can get special dispensation from the AFL...it is to stop clubs selling the farm and their future for a short term crack.

In the past four drafts, we've taken 6-7 1st rounders and in the trade periods added at least another 5 or so...

Being that Kelly jumps next season at 24, a case could easily be made for us to skip two first round of the draft, given our dedication to the draft in previous seasons

Do we really have to go through this every 5 minutes? It's been explained how we can numerous times

What's the latest on each of the following? Correct my current assumptions if anyone has any further info.

H.Goddard - rookie pick
K.Collins - rookie pick
N.Lonie - any word?
N.Newman - how likely as a DFA?

Pick #1 - any chance we turn this into something whilst still getting Walsh?

W.Hickmott - pick 50+
BSOS - pick 50+
O.Manton - top ager in the TAC Cup next year
I'd still rather spend a 4th Rounder or two on Finlayson if I'm heading down the tall defender path. Big, fast and a tremendous kick. Plays forward, back or midfield. Think you'd get great value playing him or Macreadie on a wing.
I don't profess to know a lot about Newman, but why has he only played 31 games at the age of 25???

We could also bring in a future second from someone else to offset it.

Newman was a mature pick up from Frankston two years ago

Finlayson is another interceptor isn’t he? We need a lockdown defender

Took me four days to catch up... phew!

I can’t see a scenario where the AFL won’t allow us to trade any draft pick we want. They themselves created the argument when denying is the PP a few weeks ago.

We’ve got 18 first round draftees on our list, according to Gil himself. We’ve got significant young talent on the list, according to Gil himself. So, exiting a couple of first round picks, particularly for a mature player(s) couldn’t possibly be denied.

Well if Scully is worth pick 53, surely GWS need to give us a pick to take finlayson off their hands....

Good point.
The AFL has already approved this move if it goes down (Kelly or anybody else worthy of trading future first)

I feel pick 1 is on the table for Kelly only. We are more then happy to go to the draft and as we feel this trade period has been a massive success

I wouldn't. Not in a straight swap anyway.

The obsession over Kelly is outrageous.

Would much prefer go after someone like Coniglio and cost ZERO draft picks, or pay a 1st + 2nd rounder for a Neale/Shiel type player at lower dollars, than 2 x firsts for Kelly.

Unless TRP EP OR B70 confirm we are having a crack at Kelly I am not going to give this rumour much thought.

I don't see it as a rumour, more something the club should be putting out there to GWS just on the off chance it might work, therefore SOS will have done it.

Kelly is elite.

Cheers jd2010.

No we need a midfield that at least puts some effort into pressuring the opposition ball-carrier. Defenders, lock down or interceptor, are sitting ducks if that doesn't happen. More to the point he's a quality ball user who can play anywhere, not just in the back half.

Well if Scully is worth pick 53, surely GWS need to give us a pick to take finlayson off their hands....
I reckon we got unceremoniously r*ped on the Setterfield trade after seeing that. Scully's proven at AFL level, Setterfield isn't.

A Rhys Palmer pick 118 job?
Well Norf are no longer interested since they picked up Pittard as part of the Polec deal.........and if they're desperate to get him off their books. We've offloaded O'Shea, ASOS & JGM and Rowe is yet to be re-signed. Depth isn't as strong down back as it was and it's also probably fair to say that Weitering, Marchbank & Plowman all spent a some time out of the side through injury or form last year. I'd much rather use Macreadie & Finlayson than Jones where possible.

I’m happy to go the draft other than FA from now on. Settlefield and Walsh this trade period, will give our young midfield a great mix and depth.

Cripps hopefully realises he is the leader of this young group. He hopefully decides to not worry about immediate older heads for support and with the similar age group midfield group, it gives him 5 years of success. Hopefully if he stays, builds and leads! Others do the same as well.

Crippa loves the responsibility and the contest. He is a monster for us and will also get the best out of the other kids with his leadership. Setterfield will help him with the heavy work if he can get on the park injury free
