How’d you go with FoTF? That’s if you got around to reading it yet.

3 qtrs through.

May be the best book since WFR.
I know many people rank it as the best of the series.

Up to the part where Richard's been moved out of the steel factory for " working TOO hard "

* Nicci's got some massive daddy-issues !!

yeah it's absolutely my favorite book in the series, and yeah it was a bit strange that Goodkind created a situation where you start really having sympathy for a sister of the dark.

Just reread Gardens of the Moon, the first book of Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson. I enjoyed it in 2013 but didn't want to read another 9 bricks at the time. Reading it a second time was useful not just to remember what happened - I want to read the whole lot and have now started Deadhouse Gates - but made me appreciate what reviewers of the series say about the deliberate complexity and layers of the story. Very epic even in that first book. Half the characters aren't even from the continent the story is set on...

The nut house level of s**t that happens in this series is off the charts.
Memories of Ice is probably my favourite. The Pannion Domin is ******* awesome.

if you want a good read try this out.

For those who are looking at the Malazan series. Can recommend if you like sprawling sagas and don’t mind reading a lot of books.

I’ve just started on Ian Esslemont malazan books. There’s a lot in there an been too long since read the original series so think I’m missing some connections. Still not bad so far

Faith of the Fallen. Or as I call it by the deleted sub-title 'Why communism is a really really REALLY bad idea'.

So true lol . i'd describe myself as socialist but even i'm like " yeeeesh "

Malazan the best series I haven't finished (Either Reaper's Gale or Toll the Hounds was the last one I read) and one of the few Fantasy series I'd really like to go back and finish.

Having recently finished the main characters' story I really think Robin Hobb's Fitz and the Fool makes its way to the top of my favourites, I've read all but the rain wild chronicles, 16 books over 4 trilogies and a quartet and unlike a lot of series that follow a similar approach it pretty much always felt like they were stories worth telling and they sit really well now as one overall story.

Just started the Robin Hobb series and had a massive stuff up.

Somehow I bought Fool's Assassin thinking it was the first book of the first trilogy, got about 400 pages in when I realised it's the first book of the third trilogy, not the first book of the first trilogy. So now I think I'll have to finish this trilogy, then go back and start from Assassins apprentice. A shame as I'll know kind of what happens/who survives etc.

I was wondering why it had all this stuff about the past an no full explanation of exactly who Fitz was etc.

Either way, really enjoying it so far!

Hard for me to pick a best fantasy series, would be one of the Riftwar Saga, Sword of Truth (Faith of the Fallen definitely the best book) or Song of Ice and Fire. Tried Gardens of the Moon about 7 or 8 years ago, got 200 or so pages in and still had no idea what the hell was going on so started something else, may have to give it another crack.

M

A Song of Ice and Fire

Haven't read any of this but I'm a big of the Game of Thrones TV show. Intend to read this in 2029 when the specifics are a blur in my memory. Supporting me in this decision is the fact the book series seems nowhere near finished.
tv show has ruined the books, which were amazing imo. martin could have been this century's Tolkien but chose the $$$

not a big fantasy reader but the warlord chronicles were very good imo - best take on King Arthur I've come across

Get onto Kingkiller Chronicles.
I’m nearly finished The name of the wind, will get into the second one probably read something else in between to break it up.
My sister has been hassling me for years to read it, wish I had of earlier it’s brilliant.

You had me worried then. I just ordered the Fools Errand to start the second trilogy and thought I ordered the wrong book.

Just finished " The Pillars of Creation "

The Goat lived !!!!!!
Lol.

Now you get to read ‘Naked Empire’ which for me personally is the worst book in the series.

Yeah not seeing good things written about it , Pillars gets a lot of hate too but i didn't mind it.

WFR and FOTF easily the 2 best so far.
Stone of Tears the next best and throw a blanket over the other 4

Pillars only gets hate because it focuses on a none main cast character which people get salty about, naked empire however is just bad from my perspective but who knows you might enjoy it.

Of the last three after ‘naked empire’ ‘chainfire’ is not bad and the last two ‘Phantom’ and ‘Confessor’ are pretty good.
