I think it was actually quite tactful from Mooney. Rather than going on a rant about Stuv’s mental illness and only adding to the intrusive nature of last week’s media , he just said Stuv was taking a break and doing stuff that he likes doing.

Disagree, what was intrusive was insinuating it was drug related, or prying into his personal life. There’s nothing wrong with saying he’s takin time for his mental health.

I have wood as we speak!

Pretty bloody impressive if i do say so.....130 less possesions....15 less inside 50's and yet a comfortable victory!
Complete opposite to last year! Really happy to see our kicks to handballs ratio where it should be!

Very nice even spread from all the lads....Should do wonders for confidence going forward!

Ok, so JLT games either mean nothing or they are great signs of things to come depending if you win or lose.

Parker gives us something to look forward to, he got a few lessons on giving away free kicks in the first qtr, hope he irons it out. But it’s fair to say we have a fan favourite there.

The insinuation was inadvertently there but I think the choice not to spark an extended discussion came from good intentions

Bruce for real???
pro footballer turns like a semi trailer and allows opponent to smither HOW CAN HE NOT KNOW THATS GONNA HAPPEN!?!? WTF SERIOUSLY HOW? how could he think kicking from a 1m away would be fine. Cost us a goal. just stupid
**** me campaigner your already leading ****wit of the year shut the **** up

Excellent result given we didn’t have a ruckman since halfway through the first quarter.

I think the one aspect that stood out to me was our tackling, I don’t recall seeing a missed tackle. Lonie was holding on really well, we were holding onto the shirt if anything, the desperation was good to see.

St Kilda and proud.

The pressure was the outstanding feature. Little Jack, in particular, impressed. Did anyone else think Hind showed a bit? We need his type. Looked dangerous, breaks lines and takes the opposition on. Parker and Kent as well. I hope the selectors show some ticker and pick all three for round one. No room for both Dunstan and Ross in the one team. Sorry, Luke. Steele, what a gun. Well done to Paddy. The best he's looked in any game since coming to the club. Genuinely looked dangerous every time he got near the ball. Used it well, too. On that form, the much anticipated "breakout game" can't be far away.

Nice performance Saints. Lots of positives, like McCartin, Steele and Billings.

I think our bargain priced senior players will make a huge difference. Parker, Kent and Hind. All starting 20 IMO.

It’s only a practice match but we can safely say that we will not be the chopping block we were last year. We’re not a bad side.

Haha yeah that’s kinda was I as getting at, well intentioned, but poorly worded. Hence “Tone Dead.”

It won’t spark a prolonged discussion to say “we wish him the best and hope to see him back soon.”

Carlisle is a massive loss , however I feel we can cover for him , but Steven is one we can't really cover.
Just my thoughts.
What I can gather we need Marshall in the 22 , for the reason shown today - we lose our ruck we are in trouble.
A big problem for us is we can't play Parker , Kent . Lonie , Long all in the same team.

McCartin showed more today than he has before , Bruce back is a bonus , Roberton is also a big plus.

We get Steven , Acres , Hannebery , Long , Austin , Coffield , McKenzie back we will be a danger to any team.

What I want though is Bruce , McCartin and Membery in the forward line , having Bruce ruck just about the whole game is not what I want.
With the new 666 rule a team has to play one on one on these 3 marking beasts and having Billings , Gresham , Kent , Lonie , Parker and Long running around them will be great.

Gotta be happier with that Saints fans.

We definitely looked a lot faster with those recruits and we were able to run the game out well.

Our ball movement was impressive at times and we looked a lot better going forward.

Really happy with Parker, Hind and Kent.

Paddy's first half was terrific. He's definitely going to be able to cover a lot more ground by looks of it.

Agree with all this, save I would have Dunstan over Ross. IMO Ross needs a rocket put up him particularly with with Gresh and Billings moving into the midfield. Ross' disposal just looks so lazy at time. He's a better player than Luke by a stretch, but I reckon Ross went backwards a fair way last year and on today's performance I couldn't see that much had changed. Dunstan cracked in and although his skills let him down a bit, he seems to realise that this is the year he has to prove he'll have a full AFL career.

Starting to get some of that Hawks like efficiency, for so long we've been a team that would dominate possessions but not make it count on the scoreboard.

No doubt Ratten would be helping in that regard, he is probably running the show now while Richo pretends to be the coach on the sidelines.

Ross needs a rocket?!! You’ve got to be taking the piss. If anyone needs a rocket it’s Luke. Seb is a B’n’F winner & Runner up the last 2 years and I’d our VC. Not to mention he had 23 disp and 5 clearances to Luke’s 15 disp and 3 clearances with Ross only playing an extra 3min game time!
Give me a break

What's the old saying....a win is a win is a win !!!!!!

This time last year I was saying after the 2 JLT's that it's only JLT......it's ONLY a practice game.....we'll come good when the "real stuff" starts

To my horror/dismay....like most on here,JLT carried over to our overall form and just basically got worse as the year wore on.

For what it's worth....I'll take us winning the marbles comp!!!!!!

One poster last week gave the very very sobering stat that since that Richmond game Round 16 game in 2017,we've won 6...yes SIX games since......that's 6 wins from 31 attempts(last season's 2 JLT games are in that number)

It's a absolutely daunting stat when you see it..........that's why we have to try and win every competitive fixture we start in....building up a winning culture is absolutely crucial going forward.
