Either we win by 100+ and play how we should, or we're better off losing.

Yes, I cant say I'm looking forward to a victory this week "relieving pressure" or showing the "real Essendon". The week to week fluctuarions in fortune is one of the most non-sensical parts of football coverage/analysis.

Melbourne is the next relevant game, unless of course we lose to the Saints. It would be hard to argue that a loss to the Sainst should be ignored.

10-2 inside 50s in the first 10 minutes for 5 behinds. St Kilda goes to other end an kicks a goal. Scrap for the rest of the game

This is spot on.
When you're playing for redemption it is just a quick sugar fix. Manic for a quarter.
I want to see some more meaningful & long-term adjustments.

I think either way this game is a stepping stone.

It's either a game where we are putting a step forward to launch into the year and be successful (you know like round 1 should have been).

Or its the first step to a full tear down of all off field roles and a rebuilding of the way the club is run. (Not a onfield talent rebuild)

Have you thought about the logistics of moving the game? A portion of the surface is being replaced before the game anyway.
Telling the players to go to the G instead? It's been done before. St. Kilda v. Hawthorn in 2000 was moved to the MCG because the surface at the stadium was unsafe.

Parish and Z.Clarke are the two possible ins i think.
If we play Clarke ahead of Draper, I'm going to be so disappointed.

I'm going to be disappointed aren't I.

Whatever happened to my man Jimmy Stewart, is he with Jesus now or something? Why is he not in the discussion for the forward line, at the very least he knows how to lead even if he struggles to clunk.

I liked his efforts, even if his execution wasn't always the best.

Shows Woosha has no forward thinking if he does go with Clarke

Part of me wishes we were going up against a strong team this weekend. The only way we get anything out of this weekend is if we lose, that way nothing can be swept under the carpet.

If we win we'll hear about sticking fat after a disappointing loss, trained the right way, belief in the system etc. There will be a massive lump in the middle of the carpet with the amount of shit that will be swept underneath it.

Coming up against a strong team would mean there's nowhere to hide. We'd have to play well to win which would give a baseline to work from. A loss while playing a decent brand of footy would at least give supporters a semblance of confidence that we've turned the corner after a crap JLT and round 1. A flogging with no gameplan to speak of would reinforce the concerns from the GWS game and probably see the pitchforks come out (and rightly so).

Should we win this weekend it will give us 4 points but a whole lot of meh. Round 3 will tell us what we need to know about 2019 and whether round 1 was an aberration or an indicator of the season ahead.

Clarke is ahead of Draper. If we thought Draper would be AFL ready we wouldn't have brought Clarke in in the first place.

Yes they would have, still need depth for injuries etc. It's also possible Draper has exceeded where they thought he'd be at over preseason.

Clarke is a bargain basement, no frills, home brand replacement for the retirement of lungbutter, who was the third choice ruckman last year.

Well that's factually incorrect. McKernan never played as a ruck ahead of Leuenberger.

Moving reserved seat tickets from Docklands to the MCG. Giving MCC members this game they didn't have previously and what about memberships that only apply at Docklands if any? Do reserve seat members just sit in the seat they have assigned at the G? You can't just tell the fans and players to rock up at a different ground as if it's a VFL game.
