10 players well below their best.
Another 6 woefully below their best.
Utterly atrocious kicking at goal.
Baffling decisions at the selection table.
Poor decisions on game day.

= we lose convincingly to a poor team.

Young sides will always take longer than you anticipate/hope. This is a long game, and our best won't be seen until 2020/2021, and hopefully stay up there for a good 5-6 seasons of consistely challenging. There will be utterly shit performances along the way, especially when your guns seem to be down on the same day and the match committee do themselves no favours at the selection table.

Most of the parts that saw us challenging in 2008-2010 was part of bottom four side in 2007. 90% of the team that went into 2015-2016 was there getting slaughtered in 2013/2014.

As disappointing as today was and as someone who always trends towards the negative/pessimistic, I think some of the comments/calls in this thread are nuts. But that's footy and everyone is entitled to their opinion. We'll just have to wait and see which way it plays out in the long term.

Trengove simply has to come in.

No ifs, no buts.

He’s not Grundy or Gawn but he’s the best available ruckman we’ve got And English is getting slaughtered each week.

We are doing English absolutely no favors at the moment.

I’d make 5 changes. I’m not expecting these players to change the game, but what it can do is fix our team balance and gives us a base to work from. Only a question of if Tom Boyd is fit- if he isn’t Trengove gets his spot.

FB: Duryea, Cordy, La. Young
HB: Crozier, Le. Young, Suckling
C: Hunter, Liberatore, Johannisen
HF: McLean, Naughton, Dale
FF: Dickson, Boyd, Lloyd
FOL: English, Bontempelli, Macrae
INT: Richards, B. Smith, Daniel, Gowers

Richards and Smith through the wings and middle, Daniel through the back half, and Gowers through the forwardline. English and Schache to also rotate.

IN: Suckling, Duryea, Dale, Young, Boyd
OUT: Wood, Williams, Wallis, Dunkley, Hayes

Hayes very stiff solely out on team balance, as is Williams. Other three have just been awful.
Bont to captain.

Not going to happen. Boyd is a mile off playing senior football. Dale is also a few weeks away. To drop Hayes would be a disgrace, one of the few who cracked in all day and it was a very good debut from him.

English was completely slaughtered in the ruck. I can't get his feeble performance out of my mind. Except if I think about his performance the previous week. No that didn't help. It was also feeble.

He is too feeble to be an AFL player. Wasted first round pick on display...but not for much longer if there is a God.

Again, we’re doing him absolutely no favors.

He’s expected to carry the ruck by himself and he’s not ready.

Also doesn’t help that Bevo won’t admit he’s wrong and admit that conceding the ruck every week isn’t working.

Not picking JT after dropping Schache and knowing Carlton would go tall totally flummoxes me. So if there is a discplinary issue then that at least makes sense.

Maybe all the tall players and all the skilled ones like Lipi and Lynch all took a shit on the coach's front lawn...

Trengove doesn't strike me as likely to be held back for disciplinary issues. Leadership group even though he's new, and from all accounts a ripping bloke

Since 2009 ive probably averaged about 1 game per season. This is due to starting and increasing a family. In that time ive maintained an incresing family membership - lets say an average off 350 per season - at a cost per game of essentially that.

Now have moved 3 hours away from Melbourne so basically zero chance of attending a game. Ive maintained the financial commitment to the club to 'be a part' but to be honest its now a financial burden. Why should i pay to watch this shit when so many other 'supporters' can turn off the tv and that's their contribution?

If there's not a board meeting this week about the overal coaching situation I'll be flabbergasted. This is an abomination if a situation. What are we rebuilding from? The peak form snatching of the 2016 premiership has papered over the cracks in this club that have been their for seemingly an eternity.

Give me peak Eade era over this horseshit Beverage has had in place since he got their. We never smash sides. We beat those that we shouldn't- sometimes - and we lose to those teams that any self-respecting side shouldn't - regularly.

A clean out of playing personal should continue. How the **** can we have so many who simlly cant kick accurately at goal or in general play. Add to this shithiuse decision making and fumbling. We have so many park footballers its not funny.

Seriously over it.

Shit post.

Taking out Schache just about trashed any forward structure we might have had and making Dunkley second ruck meant we got destroyed in the middle as well. Utterly f...n stupid.

It will be painful to watch at times, but can't we just leave Young, Schache and English in there are try to develop some KPP structures to work the game plan around?

Let's give them a chance to play.

Some of those are just trolls trying to get bites.

Let's face it, English is miles off being an AFL standard player. He needs to spend the rest of the season in the VFL.

with the new rules winning the hit outs has become even more crucial, we haven't adapted at all and seem to be doing what has worked in the past but with a less experienced side.

WEVE BEEN YOUNG SINCE 2011 FFS. I’m sick of hearing this, we’re in a non-stop rebuild, you think it would have stopped after we won the flag. How about we stop blooding youngsters way out of their depth like Lachlan Young, Ed Richards, and Tim English and play experienced players like Trengove, Roberts, and Webb (who has been on the list since 2015) and blokes we’ve kept on the list out of good faith like Roarke Smith. I really hope Suckling and Duryea were legitimately injured and not just ‘managed’ because we missed both especially Suckling dearly.

Having more wins doesn't make us better. The Hawks game we only won due to in-game injuries to their key players and a dream run with the umpires.
Neither of them would have lowered their colours as badly as we did today.
You're right of course. We need to sack bevige for the embarrassment that was today's effort. He's arrogant and has got many miles ahead of himself. We are a rabble and also putrid. Nothing short of a clean sweep of the coaching panel and MC will suffice. Gia seems a likely candidate to rescue us from the abyss.

As others have said, could have seen this coming with the team selected. But to rub salt in, I fully expected Carlton to kick a goal to crack 100 even when the clock ticked down to 5 seconds left at the boundary throw in, and of course they did. Absolute shitshow

Yep exactly.

Bevo is refusing to budge from his view that the ruck doesn’t matter as we continue to get slaughtered in it every week.

If we just bit the bullet and gave Trengove a game we would have won by 20 goals. Bevo so stubborn he just hates rucks. First Minson and then Campbell and now bloody Trengove. Look at how Campbell has flourished over at Norf!

We have NUF NUFS as assistant coaches who would be lucky to get a gig in the Ovens and Murray league if they didn't have a gig with us Look at the Saints and Port this year they have restructured their coaching staff and you can see the positive outcomes already We just keep the dud coaching duds around

I've usually known you to be quite the positive voice of reason and after today I feel quite deflated.
There have been worrying signs about the Coach since early 2017 when he shifted every Assistant into new roles. Bevo seems to lack insight and agility when things he's wedded to obviously aren't working. He should be having the blowtorch applied from within the inner sanctum. Nobody is talking anymore about him being the successor to Clarkson as the great coach of this era.

Sooooooooo many excuses

Starts and ends with Bev at the moment.

At present he is a one trick Pony who’s players would live and die for him in 15/16.

I told u ALL his treatment(deserved or not) of Jake, Biggs, Libba, Dahl sent ripples through the group and got a lot of players of side.

How continually playing favs also hasn’t been popular.

Add to that now his complete mess at MC and constantly being outcoached and he is in a world of trouble.

I heard Gordon saying they are looking to extend him to the end of 22, that would be an atrocious decision at present.
