Come on Gards, Shit posts are shit.
Play Willo on the HBF, or wing..
Maybe I should post it in the unpopular opinions thread but that’s my view on Plowman. I’ve seen enough to come to that conclusion. He’s ok until we’ve got better and 3 tallish players is enough imo so Williamson in for more run out of backline.

We monstered them.

What an absolute pleasure that was.

Probably unfair to single out performances from such a team effort but, SPS and McKay well and truely grew into their boots.

Not only relieved as a supporter but genuinely happy to see a young group finally get the win they obviously deserve, and ditto for bolts.

Spot on. Those who have been to training during the Bolton era would have seen this game plan in action & seen how well it works when properly executed. Kicking 100 points is a lot easier when this works. Of course when it is poorly executed it opens you right up & then players go back into their shell.

I was quietly confident leading into this game after hearing Crippa speak during the week. With what he said it was clear the players had totally owned last week's shattering loss.

Not for the first time we kicked 5 goals in the 1st quarter, but instead of dropping right off in the 2nd quarter, we held sway, allowing us to go into the 2nd half in control of the game.

Ultimately the game was won through our control of the midfield, with Kreuzer, Cripps, SPS & Fisher leading the way & having a far more dangerous forward line than the Bulldogs. Harry, Levi, McG & JSOS kicked 9 goals between them, while we got 6 goals from our smalls.

It is now quite obvious why SOS prioritised Harry ahead of Charlie in the 2015 draft. His ceiling is ridiculously high. 20 disposals, 11 marks, 4.3 from a player who is only 21, with only 20 games under his belt. What will he be doing when he has 60-70 games under his belt?

I was pleased for Levi today. I'll concede I haven't been excited by his inclusion in the team this season, but you can't ask more than from him than to kick 3 goals as back up to Harry, with 2 of those goals being absolute rippers.

The continued improvement in Gibbo is pleasing. Now that he is getting to play further up the field, you can see he is far more comfortable in himself. To give some perspective on the step from full time VFL to AFL, Kane Lambert, now a mainstay in the Tiggies' best 22, had 6,9,8,11 & 19 disposals in his first 5 games, kicking only 1 goal. Gibbo's 11,16,4,16 & 21 & 1 goal stacks up quite well comparatively. The change from part time to full time player can be quite a learning curve.

As has been the case so far this season, our defence was again superb today, particularly with the Bulldogs having more inside 50s than us. Our defence has become a real strength this year. It probably helps that players are getting some continuity working together, in contrast to the 19 players who spent time in defence for us last season.

Finally, I can't finish off without mentioning the ongoing class showings of Sam Walsh. He is just making it look so easy & we should all be eternally grateful to him for kicking that final goal & shutting up the media & opposition supporters.

Looking to next week, I don't think we should be looking at too many changes. I would be tempted to bring Stocker in for Polson & if Charlie is fit, a run in the VFL could be in order.

Was having the same thought re Stocker for Polson. Polson might need a run in the midfield in the 2s, get plenty of it, work on his one touch game. Stocker looks like he’s got “it”. I’m sure he’d acquit himself well in a forward role.

Ok, here goes:

SPS showed the difference between having one midfield A grader and two A graders. Because, as good as he and Walsh have been this season (I still can’t believe only about 30% of posters said SPS had a good game last week), neither had quite reached the match winner level. That’s absolutely no criticism of Walsh, who is the best first year player I’ve seen at Carlton in the draft era, but the fact SPS raised his game to match-winner level was hugely significant for us. It meant that the Dogs’ attention had to turn towards him, and provided latitude for Fisher in particular (who then enjoyed a very good second half).

Harry McKay reminds me of Paul Salmon in his breakout year before he did his knee. Back then, Salmon redefined what it meant to be a key forward. I think McKay can absolutely do the same.

Daisy Thomas just keeps on keeping on. The debate on who won the “trade” is never one we’ll be able to answer in the affirmative for Carlton. But if it’s any consolation, I’d say we are ahead on the ledger over 2018 and 2019. He’s been important to us, and deserved the win after all he put in last week.

I like Dow’s game better than most. The kicking is better earlier in the game, which suggests it is at least partially a fitness issue. That’s no surprise given how much of the offseason he missed. How many kids can just zip out of a contest like he can? You can’t teach that.

Weitering and Jones just continue to go well. Very well indeed.

Finally, if Bailey Smith is so into the science of getting the best out of himself, then he might want to look at what science says about that haircut. It has to be suboptimal!

That’s exactly how I see it , O’Brien in twos for a long spell of learning and development, Polson not up to it although can’t fault his effort and endeavour
:thumbsu: Thanks for clarifying, and can I just add that it’s refreshing to see a poster who respectfully criticises the player, rather than disrespectfully criticising the person - after some of the treatment dished out to Cas in the past few days, it’s a bit of a sensitive issue for me atm.

It's a redundant point now, but Kreuzer nullifies the influence of Nankervis and we go a long way to winning. Likewise against Sinclair, then Lycett and Witts...

We will win many more games this year.
Kreuzer is almost our most important player

By the way, who played on Hunter? He’s hugely important to their structure, and he was basically shut down.

One other positive: even though it didn’t lead to anything, JSOS’s effort in shrugging that tackle towards the end of the third quarter showed the difference between a pre- and post fourth-year body. Just imagine when our other players get there too?

kind of what we expected him to say, but I like his attitude about the 100 points
I liked his stuff on the younger players you know three years in the system
He was good tonight

Great win by the boys and what a difference it is leaving the game a winner!!!

Hoping this kick starts our season and gives the boys that belief so they can continue enjoying that winning feeling!

BAGGERS!!!
