It's a good feeling having Reid, Wills and Wells running into various levels of form and fitness - Reid in particular if fully fit is an important piece in our extended playing group.

I'm gonna have to disagree. Reid is cooked. Should have probably retired two years ago.

And truth be told he is (these days) excellent depth.
Fantastic having that depth.

Jamie Elliott’s statement that he was earmarked for a scheduled rest anyway prior to his corked buttock (terrible injury description suggesting an even more troublesome problem😊) and that he will be back this week suggests to me that there will be minimal changes this week. Anyone who goes out this week is probably being managed for a long season rather than for horrible form.
Suspect we’ll see a couple more managed next week also.
It’s reassuring that those coming in seem to be fitting into team structures pretty seamlessly.

Would want to see if he can actually get through games without being injured before labelling him depth.
That’s one way of looking at it;
Another is to trust he will and he’ll play well.

Have a really sneaky feeling Reid will come in for Cox.
Mine’s a bit more than sneaky. Did anyone head to training today to confirm if he was on the track?

I posted something similar watching him limp around after the game. If Reid comes in does he go back for Roughy to go into the ruck when Grundy takes a break. Cox would be a loss for our structure at anytime but against Port who have a very strong ruck combination it may hurt us quite a bit.

Maybe a few players with 'general soreness' needing the extra day or two???

Anyway it's certainly odd timing.

Correct weight and I think I’d overlooked it initially that there’d be some sore bodies after 3 matches in 13 days. A freshen up would make sense with the senior group probably getting Friday-Sunday off.

Very doubtful. On the back of Roughead playing his best game of the year and Reid having spent the season so far up forward/ relief rucking I doubt they’d go that way. I agree though there’s about three matches where losing his ruckwork is a big blow and this week would be one of them (Dees and WC the others once Nic Nat returns).

They had Reid playing relief ruck in the VFL. If he comes in I expect he’ll do the same in the AFL.

Agree but we all still expected WHE to have a run or two in the VFL before senior selection.

I was happy to have him in for Elliott straight away.

The “Wells” myth grows by the day IMO.

The teams are split 15 wins apiece, but Port Adelaide has never beaten Collingwood at Marvel Stadium

Last time they met: MCG, round 22, 2018: Collingwood 17.13 (115) defeated Port Adelaide 10.4 (64)
The Magpies cemented their first finals berth in four years while the Power slipped outside the eight and ultimately missed the finals. After leading by just four points midway through the third term, the Pies piled on 8.5 to 1.0 to break a four-game losing streak against Port.

What it means for Collingwood: In the first of just three appearances at Marvel Stadium this season, the Pies will fancy their chances of posting their fourth successive win in a period in which they could build serious momentum.

What it means for Port Adelaide: On a fast track under the roof, Ken Hinkley's boys have a golden opportunity to strengthen their credentials against one of the flag favourites.

How Collingwood wins: Jamie Elliott's return will allow the Pies to assemble their full complement of forwards for the first time and possibly enable superstar Jordan De Goey to spend more time in the midfield, where his explosiveness could be critical.

How Port Adelaide wins: The Power have unleashed some exciting speedsters – among them the supremely talented Connor Rozee and fellow NAB AFL Rising Star nominee Xavier Duursma – who have the ability to unsettle the Magpies' team defence.

The stat: The Power have never beaten Collingwood at Marvel Stadium, losing their previous four games at the venue to the Pies by an average of 43 points. The teams haven't met there since 2012.

The match-up: Brodie Grundy v Scott Lycett and Paddy Ryder
It all starts at the source, and Power pair Lycett (ranked No.94 in the Official AFL Player Ratings) and Ryder (No.22) will look to nullify the AFL's premier ruckman Grundy (No.4), just as Lycett and Nathan Vardy did in West Coast's Grand Final triumph seven months ago.

It’s a big week for: Tom Rockliff
The prolific onballer amassed 43 touches in Brisbane's win over the Pies at the MCG in round 21, 2014, but in his two games against them since then, both at the MCG, he has managed just 18 (after being injured in the third quarter in his first game as Lions' captain in round one, 2015) and 17 in Port's round 22 loss last year.
Big call: Port comes agonisingly close to toppling both 2018 Grand Finalists

Some Stats:
