Wondering if you can help identifying this footage of one of his marks i seen one time on TV, not sure if it was for Blues or playing for Vics but from what i recall he sat on a large pack that seemed to be towards the half forward line near the boundary line, just flew up and sat on top of the entire pack it's one of the greatest marks I've ever seen but can't seem to find any footage of it anywhere,
The 'problem' if one is to define it in such a way is that Jezza just simply took mark of the round/mark of the week every week. For mine, the best of all was one grab in a SA v Vic game played at AFL park in the late '70's.

find footage of the incident you are referencing, and we will try to isolate ground/round/fixture

Bolton was the teacher we needed for the young group and the man we needed to heal the club. He may not have been the coach to take us beyond those foundation years, but to say that he was the wrong pick at the time, because he failed to take the next step, is either short-sighted or just plain disingenuous.
Totally agree.
Bolts did a huge job.
Deserves a life membership and the kudos of us all

Today was one of those games you just thought we would snatch defeat from the jaws
of victory

But this side under Teague don’t drop their heads. We pushed until the final siren with decent contributions from most of the side.

Newman and Walsh were the standouts and drivers off the wing/hb line.

Cripps first half was super. His second half was a little under standard but he had Murphy and Ed to support him.

Plowman looked much better this week.

Levi just keeps getting his job done each week and I f’n love it.

JSOS and Gibbons played important roles as high half forwards.

Daisy and Simmo did there bit on Papley and Hayward (who looks massively out of sorts)

McKay has his chances and will be better for the run.

No Marchbank,Weitering,Cunrow,McGovern, Cunningham and of course Doc .....6 best 22 players

Bloody great to be praising players and the club.....imagine if we had of clinched those 2 close losses. Teague would be 5-0

We just look to have so much freedom on the field

Yes but dont call me cunrow

How long has it been since we had a good game-day coach? Love how Teague is willing to move the pieces around and make the opposition coach do their job and make it a tactical battle, so refreshing.

Hard to not be impressed by him, I can't think of one experienced coach available that I would want, the Lyon talk can't be serious, look at Freo, why would we want someone like that.

No need to rush the decision, however, if Teague can keep this up for the remainder of the year then the role has to be his. Players seem to love him, supporters seem to be falling in love with him and how effing good is it to be relevant again, Go Baggers!!

keep it going - ignore today's result - scoring points against the past coach has so much merit.......
Thy I appreciate u sticking up for Bolts .... As a bloke he was an absolute gem. I love the guy and his exit speech brought a tear to my eye. If there was justice in the world he would still be at the helm. But sport is a cruel mistress and in the end Teague has shown where he went wrong. He had too much of an eye on the future, believing eventually everything would work out. What he didn’t realise is it sapped the teams confidence and resulted in a losing mentality.
I will be very surprised if we see a blowout against anyone for the remainder of the year.
Players loved Bolts but did they play for him in the end?

Are they playing for Teague?

All easy in hindsight. Bolton did a brilliant job though and had unbelievably bad luck. Constant injuries ruined the past two years, a shocking draw to start the year, and the unlucky losses to Hawthorn, GC and Collingwood from winning positions that probably decided his fate.

Players don’t play for coaches alone, it’s a lot more complex than that, and Ultimately the players needed a reset and a new coach has given them that, but the same has happened to almost every coach at some point.

Bolts took on the toughest job in footy and held the club together with a consistent and clear message, and very few others could have done, it’s a pity he won’t be around to reap the rewards

Strangely, I was quite calm throughout the game. Even we they got within seven, I felt we were always in control. Very mature performance.
Same, wife was sitting right next to me doing bookkeeping and didn’t even realise we’d won until I started singing 💙

I didn’t make one swear word all game

With the exception of Goddard due to injury only a couple players in single figure disposals (Jones, Kennedy, Lang) with 2 of those playing forward roles and Jones on shut down in the key back position which is fantastic.

Everybody did something as well. A crucial tackle that lead to a goal, a superb goalkeeper role between a couple of players, just getting involved and doing their job.

Beating sydney, in Sydney, with a similar style to Sydney for only the second time in 26 years. Helluva game.

That’s weird, I was stressed lunatic against Melbourne and relaxed in this one also

Really good games from Plowman and Newman, they rebounded well from poor ones the week before.

I love how we can loose our best two key defenders in Weitering and Marchbank, best forward the week before in Curnow and still have plenty of options to fill gaps.

Our attack on the ball was great, none of this corralling crap, when congested, we got plenty of numbers to the contest. For the most part, when Sydney made a fast break our defence seemed pretty organised. I was at the game and haven't seen the replay yet, but Cripps seemed solid without being dominant, had someone scragging him the whole game, but it was a really good spread of contributors, not just through the midfield with murph, Ed and Cripps, but around the ground. Jack did some 'never say die' acts that seemed to lift us at key points. I was not far from his side step and candy, which was very Pendlebury like.

I wonder if it was a directive to not play Ed and Murphy in the mids or Bolton just decided it was best?

It has certainly improved our team balance playing them where they belong, but is it hindering the development of SPS, Dow and Co?
I don't think so, both have still featured prominently the last few weeks and winning the ball themselves.
Smooth sailing at the moment 👍

My one and a half cents

Newman:
32 touches, 13 marks at 87% efficiency. Nuff said. HEEELLLO NEWMAN.

Murph:
Hasn’t our former skip wound back the clock a bit. Laid some nice tackles and looks so confident and fit atm. Still in our top 6-8 players. Credit to him.

Crippa:
As Teague said in his presser his role allowed Ed, Murph and Cyborg in to get the hard ball as well. Laid 8 tackles, love this man. We walk taller with the Beast on the ground

Ed C: I mean, this bloke is seriously underrated. His strength at being able to shake a tackle and get a kick off today, seriously. I’d hate to wrestle with him.
Playing as well as ever. Still got 2-3 years left if he keeps this up. Love him

Walsh:
Cyborg

Could win a Brownlow.

Kreuzer:
Heart as big as Phar Lap. Mashed a much inferior opponent. Aliir is an athletic monster. Kreuzer is just a battering ram. Hope he has a couple more years left in him. One of our most important and irreplaceable players.
We walk even taller with ze BattleKreuzer.

Levi ******* Casboult

Plow: Not enuff luff for the Plow. Was great today

Simmo: Is slowing down the old fella, but still had 19 at 84% with 8 rebound 50’s 💙

Gibbo: Getting better every week. Glad he’s ours.

Fish 🐟Happy 50th game young fella. Doesn’t need to get it 30 times to have an impact. Is slippery af. Seems to be doing less of those dinky kicks as well.
Game awareness and sidestep is 🔥

Jack ******* Silvagni

SPS off half back though. Our best ball user.

Daisy: I know he’s getting on but I’d give him one more year for insurance. Is earning it but this is a cutthroat industry. If he doesn’t play on hope he stays at the club in some sort of developmental capacity.

Setters: Is building nicely. 9 tackles. Will be a very, very good player for us

H: 9 marks and a goal. Good to have him out there.

L’oB: Ran his guts out from what I could see. One of our better kicks on the run. Is part of our oxygen brigade with Ed, Walsh and Gibbo. Some serious running power and probably one of our quickest.

Dow: As someone else said he ran and chased. Hopefully hit his kpi’s and played his role for the team. Glad he came back out. Dawson will get looked at for that hit.

Kennedy: Pretty quiet game but like Dow hope he played his role for the team.

Lang: Kicked a goal and did a couple nice things. Was first to jump on Dawson for his hit on Dow. Loved that. His calves are bloody huge.

Goddard: terrible luck mate. Hope to see you out there again soon.

All in all whilst scrappy and unspectacular it was ****** great to get a win on their home deck. Something we hadn’t seen since 2011 in the Juddy days.

Happy Sunday blue baggers 💙

CFC website lists the bests as:
Cripps, Newman, Casboult, Curnow, Kreuzer, Walsh, Murphy

I pretty much agree but I would quibble with the order e.g. I would put Newman first..

Curious that all but one is an established player. Walsh was the best of the youngins yesterday. Though I thought there was a pretty solid contribution right across most of the 22. And I would find a place Jack in my list of bests. He often adds an intangible that makes us better.

Underlines what a huge challenge that the scorched earth policy has meant. Yesterday the seasoned players played as leaders. The younger ones did not have the weight of the team performance loaded on them.

Under Teague it's good to see the pieces of the puzzle coming together.

Spot on but imo that's somewhat through not having quick and specialist small forwards that cover space, apply great pressure, help lock in the ball and run down defensive players it's an area of the ground that we get caught out on with quick rebounding from teams...
Yep paddy dow really let himself down today in this regard.
I cop a kid having a quiet game playing up forward but he applied 0 defensive pressure, refused to chase and didnt lay a tackle. Looks like chris judd when he has the ball running towards goal. Looks like Brock Mclean when the oppo has it!
