I honestly feel like the supporters may be forced to take action to force this panel into selecting Teague. If there was some bulls**t handshake agreement made with Voss/Roos when Bolton was sacked they need to be forced to break it (I do have this nagging suspicion that they have already picked the coach and are just 'pretending' to follow due process).

Some kind of social media campaign, or turning up in force at a particular game in support of Teague (if we have to burn down that s**thole Marvel so be it).

Teague just has it, everyone with half a brain can see it.

I'm with you. And to prove that I've got half a brain and I can see it.

David Teague - The CV

Taking a closer look into our current interim coach for some context into his career

Playing career:

Played 83 games across 6 seasons for North Melbourne and Carlton.

In 2004 at Carlton he won the John Nicholls Medal as the BnF winner and also won the prestigeous Afl Robert Rose award for the Most Courageous player in the Afl.

Other players to win this include: Gavin Brown, Glenn Archer, Jon Brown, Rory Sloane, Luke Parker, Paul Kelly, Luke Hodge, Joel Selwood.

Coaching Career:

In 2007 Teague started as a player/coach for the Northern Bullants and a development coach at Carlton before becoming Full time coach in season 2009.

The Northern Bullants made the GF in both 2009 and 2010.

From 2011 to 2013 he was the defensive line coach at West Coast.

They finished 5th for points against in 2011 after the wooden spoon in 2010 and 4th for scores against in 2012.

He then spent 2014 at St.Kilda before moving to Adelaide from 2015-2017 as the forwards coach.
Adelaide was ranked in top 3 for scores for in all 3 seasons:

2015 - 3rd
2016 - 1st
2017 - 1st (made grand final)

He was then appointed as Carlton forwards coach at the end of 2017, before being introduced as the interim coach 5 weeks ago.

He currently has a 3 win 2 loss record and since taking over Carlton is ranked in the top 5 for:

Forward half intercepts
Points from forward half intercepts
Points from forward half chains.

Carlton in that time rank equal 7th for goals scored per game with an avg. of 12.2 goals per game and in the past 5 games would sit 8th on the afl ladder with a solid percentage of 104.4%

Players should have their say on the next coach. Said it in the our next coach thread in agreement with another poster.

There were some mixed opinions on whether the players should have a voice in who coaches them but I think their opinions should be listened to and taken into consideration.
I tend to agree even though it seemed otherwise in t' other thread.
What I was suggesting is that the players performance is the loudest voice and most trustworthy evidence. Over and above words as such.

Teague as Coach and a senior bloke with runs on the board (or an 'absence of training wheels' to use modern parlance) like Roos as Director of Coaching.

Give him 2 years and let's see what he can do.

I think this is my current preference. I'm not sure if Roos is the right fit for the DoC role, but he would certainly bring a 'big name' that might aid any marketing or player attraction, not to mention he's got plenty of media experience so would be able to fulfil some of the typical coach responsibilities there and perhaps take some of the heat of DT when needed.

I'm not sure about the alternatives to Roos for this role, I've heard the likes of Noble and Ayers suggested. Noble seems appealing to me but not sure he'd want to leave Brisbane now, and his name may not be recognisable to Average Jo(e), unlike Roos/Ayers/etc.

I should probably put this in the unpopular opinions thread but...

Am I the only one who doesn’t want Clarko as our coach?

Surely there’s someone else out there.

I’m not even sure why I don’t want him I just don’t.

Don’t want a messiah, that’s one thing.
I don't want the sniping prick either, but if he coaches Carlton he's my coach.

This shouldn't be underrated.
We need to add talent at the end of the year. If these are the fringe benefits of paying a Roos $600-800k pa then it's money well spent, regardless of what the individual's motives are

One big advantage I see of a Teague/Roos combo is that Teague will have landed the job in exactly the same circumstances as Roos did with the Swans and as such Roos would be uniquely positioned to advise on the transition from caretaker to main man, a transition many struggle with.
Also, whatever opinions are of him, he lends a gravitas to the setup which will appeal to potential recruits.

Exactly why does Roos attract a big name. Its nonsense.
The guy is an over rated hasbeen and media jockey now. Young stars dont see him as anything more.
Perhaps ask
Bernie Vince
Harry OBrien
Jake Melksham
Jordan Lewis
and Michael Hibberd

All of whom elected to leave their previous clubs and go to Melbourne during Roos's stay there.

Players leaving their clubs and openly wanting to come to Carlton in the last 4 years:
Mitch McGovern
Caleb Marchbank

It makes a difference

Roos, scored a premiership a with a very strong list, he inherited at the right time when they were peaking. He is just an all round salesman all polish and glam No substance. Involving him at any level will be a monumental disaster. In reality with the list he had and all the advantages Sydney were getting at the time (Cola, Homes games at SCG etc.) he drastically under achieved. His Rugby scrum congested style game plan was not rocket science, and he didn't come up with any other ingenuous tactic either.

Does anyone think Kruze looks better under Teague. Almost every time he gets a mark, he turns backwards, leans forward, ass out to keep the ball away from opposition and looks for the handball option - only when it's not there does he go back and take the kick.

Too often under Bolton we would try to move the ball slowly and conservatively, and Kruze's changes have been one clearly identifiable trait change under Teague.

Don’t reckon Teague needs to be the next Clarko tbh.

Our list will do most of the work.

We need a coach who the players play for and can implement a game plan that suits them. Not a full blown genius tactically. Thinking a Hardwick or B Thompson type (without the drugs).
I agree. Bolton's lasting legacy will be the rock solid defence structure and defensive mindset he instilled. Keep that and do what Teague has begun: sharpen clearance work, build forward line chemistry, keep letting them play to their strengths. You have a winning formula.

Kruze cruising along very nicely.

Agree with you on this one Monster.
If the last few Premiership winning teams have taught us anything, it's that developing a game style that suits your players is number one.

With Teague having been at the club for 2 years now, he's had enough time to see what makes these boys tick, what are their strengths, what are their weaknesses.

A Clarkson/Lyon/ anybody coming in as an outsider isn't going to have that IP ready to go, and will just be trying to force their tried and true gameplan on our boys whether it works or doesnt.

We saw this with Pagan and Malthouse

Dubious examples in my mind.
I think we can do better than that.
