My enthusiasm for the trade period has been dampened since the below leading knee surgeon claiming Coniglio's knee will never mend and he is destined for the Scrap heap. His shoulders aren't looking too good either.

If we must go down the mentor path I'd much rather Gary Ayres over someone like Roos or Richardson.

He's a no bulls**t, top quality person who doesn't have a big ego and would be the type to genuinely invest time in developing the coach, rather than promoting themselves (Paul Roos I'm looking in your direction).

I doubt he'd be interested but we could do a lot worse than Ayres.
He’d be so much better than your Roose’s, your Lyon’s, your Richo’s, your Clarko’s, your Scott’s etc

I see your point, but for his size, Teague had fantastic courage and would put his head in where bigger, 'tougher' players didn't.
I'd rather that type of hard edge be the benchmark that our kids have instilled in them, and not the 'thug' type that Scott was known for (and good at).

I have no doubt Scott has mellowed and understands today's game doesn't allow for that, and his coaching reflects that, but don't worry about Teague, he can hold his own in the 'toughness stakes.

He literally won the Robert Rose 'most courageous player' award in 2004 (same year he won our BnF).

I remember it pretty clearly. Had no problem parking under high balls while footsteps came his way, or running backwards with the flight of the ball into oncoming traffic.

Dude has a pair on him. Literally won an AFL BnF off the back of them.

Why can't we have Co-Coaches?
We have Co-Captains.....just saying. 😉😋

Teague as Coach and a senior bloke with runs on the board (or an 'absence of training wheels' to use modern parlance) like Roos as Director of Coaching.

Give him 2 years and let's see what he can do.

Carlton's senior players have reportedly been approaching club officials advocating for interim coach David Teague to get the top job next year.

Players should have their say on the next coach. Said it in the our next coach thread in agreement with another poster.

There were some mixed opinions on whether the players should have a voice in who coaches them but I think their opinions should be listened to and taken into consideration.

Dont want Richo anywhere near the place.

I could certainly live with Richo. Seems like a pretty decent footy person and doesn't seem to have the ego of some of the other names being bandied about.

I do agree that you need youthful enthusiasm in your coaching ranks but a level headed senior citizen sometimes helps to temper over zealous enthusiasm. i also think his coaching this year has been under rated by the Saints.

Be interesting to see how Ratts goes for another 6 games as interim coach. I hope, for his sake, it's better than his last stint in that position as long as he loses round 22.

I honestly feel like the supporters may be forced to take action to force this panel into selecting Teague. If there was some bulls**t handshake agreement made with Voss/Roos when Bolton was sacked they need to be forced to break it (I do have this nagging suspicion that they have already picked the coach and are just 'pretending' to follow due process).

Some kind of social media campaign, or turning up in force at a particular game in support of Teague (if we have to burn down that s**thole Marvel so be it).

Teague just has it, everyone with half a brain can see it.
