Agree. I would rather overpay for Papley who has it in spades than Martin who has potential and proven nothing
Having missed on Cogs, SOS would appear to have no other player in mind that would be getting millions thrown at them, so why risk losing a player because of being tight with an extra $100,000 or whatever when the club have the money in the kitty. They don`t have to offer more than the dogs but up the anti enough to be in the contest.......maybe there is another big name in the works that SOS is "holding back" the money for, otherwise it just doesn`t seem to make sense at all.......

You miss the point it is the price of the risk Martin is 700k for potential compared to Papley who is proven

Hahaha, did you even look at the comparison? What has Papley proved that Martin hasn't? Im wondering what you think Papley will expect to get paid? Im guessing he won't be leaving Sydney to take a pay cut and as he's contracted will cost more than Martin.

The comparison has Martin ahead on nearly everything but goals. Not sure why we couldn't get both.

Compare Kennedy this year to last year, then apply that same measure of growth to Kennedy next year and we have a vastly different player.

I applied that logic to Cripps.

I expect him to finish 0th in the MVP award next year....

Would be very nice if we could indeed get both. There is also another thing here as well, because If we keep missing on players because SOS is playing scrooge then other future targets might not find the idea of coming to Carlton so appealing..........I know it should not just be about $$$ but you have to show these targets that you really want them. Also why has SOS jumped off Ellis when it seemed that he was coming to us? I don`t rate Ellis that much actually but why lose another player that you were originally after............

Going to The Champions of Carlton function tonight on a VIP table with Diesel and Sticks any questions for two of our best ever?

Just reading this now...

.. My question would have been 'how much money did the team win by throwing the saints and Sydney games in 1995?'

Something, or someone else has come up. Maybe Tomlinson or Cutler as alternatives or maybe we just weren’t enamoured with B. Ellis in the end.

These comments better not be a slight on the great country of Malta. I'll have to raise some fists if so.
they valletta not be........

And if you were a GWS player who is "marquee" wouldn't you try and get some ambassadorial money in the year leading up to your contract expiring Free agency?
He has been getting that since 2014, must have been a long term plan.

Would Tomlinson be a free agent or is a trade necessary..........because it struck me that part of the story behind going for Ellis was that he was a free agent.......would love to know who SOS has fallen in love with to turn around and call off the bromance with Ellis........ tears flowing uncontrollably!!!

Sorry SB wasn’t trying to upset people on here but you don’t get what you want in the trade period without giving up something and of all our young guys with some currency I’d be least upset by losing Dow he just seems to turn the ball over far to much for my liking but I guess you rate him higher than I do and that’s fine.
Fisher on the other hand I love because he always looks to be giving his all and makes things happen and has that spark, definitely wouldn’t trade Fisher
So you are in the "sell when their value is at its overly lowest" camp then?

Might be best that we ensure that you have no involvement in any trading decision that the club makes I would think.
