I live in this zone. Most of the post codes on this list have been doubled up or tripled up on so the actual list is much shorter.
These suburbs include Heidelberg, Rosanna, Macleod, Watsonia, Greensborough, Eltham. Diamond Creek, Bundoora, Preston and the newer suburbs of South Morang, Doreen and Mernda.
The main suburbs with a diverse nationalities would be the Preson and West Heidelberg area.

Im in the zone too and the amount of new developments going on, points to a growing population, that will take a few years to filter in to the Northern Knights side, its a very diverse zone, which makes me optimistic, it also includes lots of the inner Melb suburbs which are diverse and densely populated, Clifton Hill, Fitzroy, Collingwood, Abbotsford, Northcote, Thornbury, Fairfield, Ivanhoe.

Im really happy we have the area and if we only had the zone 1 year earlier (i think it was 1) then we would have got Jade Gresham, our time will come.

He probably would, but where and who would miss out.
He is not a need, let’s not go down the Dodoro path.
Concentrate our focus and resources on our needs.

Quality experienced mid.

Dangerous quick hard working goal kicking small forwards.

Skilled link up player.

Bridging ruckman.

I don't think it matters if our overall best 22 is improved by adding him. Isnt that the aim, putting together the best list you can?

It does matter because we only have a finite amount of resources to use.

If we could put some numbers to it, let's say Tomlinson is ours if we pay him $650k over 4 years. Let's also say he would improve our team but only marginally on what we already have, like a 5% upgrade.

Versus using that money upgrading lang/deluca to papley, resulting in a 50% upgrade etc.

There's more to list management than just putting together the best list you can in terms of good players. There is a balance and you need to recruit for needs.

Seems like the players are much more open about their possible movements this year.
Previously JJ was scorned upon, whilst this year even the AFL have openly intervened with Cogs... are we heading like the NRL

Given draft strength and where the dons are atm, surely they would push for papley + 23 rather than pick 8 + 23? Could see bombers pushing for 4 + 23 but that is neither here nor there - papley will contribute more to their team.

Ignoring papley atm, have to wonder what 8 + future 1st would nab us? Petracca? perhaps billings/cerra + change?
Papley to go with Orazio and AMT?? Half forwards is not what they need

Absolutely nothing. Only idiots (aka Melbourne) trade quality key forwards in their prime. They are difficult to draft, take ages to develop, and it's very hard to find a club dumb enough to trade one. You also can't win a flag without them.
Hogan was leaving the year after un contracted anyway so they maximised his value. Plus his off field work was an issue for them.

Not one who has missed basically 2 years of footy.

Your incentive might be to cash in while you still can on an injured player, and Daniher may be happy to leave as well.

When was the last time any player was traded straight up for high picks like 4 & 8 without even a 2nd rounder coming back?

Fair points, especially the injury history.

But from Essendon’s point of view, JD:
1. Is hitting his prime (25 years old)
2. Proven goal kicker in a difficult position to fill
3. Is contracted
4. At no stage have they (publicly) said they’re willing to part ways
5. This years draft crop outside of 1 & 2 is barely average

Also, Sydney can just give Essendon picks 4 & 23 - why do they need us in the deal if those picks are sufficient? This leads me to believe they need pick 8 to pair with their 4 (which again might become 5 & 9 depending on GC PP).

In a weak draft, that’s what a JD is worth imo.

Tomlinson is not a need, as confirmed by the ITKs, but depth is good. Competition for places is good. I daresay he's still on SOS/Agresta's hitlist regardless but down the pecking order a bit.

He's a free agent, would cost us no picks, can play, and wouldn't cost a fortune. Opposite of a Dodoro move IMHO.

Agree but don’t reckon we’d get anywhere near TT. Ian Hill on the other hand has the makings of something special and I reckon he’s gettable. Maybe box him up with Bonar.
LOVED what I saw from Caldwell in his few games this year. Think they love Bobby Hill but Bonar and Caldwell maybe? Not sure they're what we need though. We need guys with experience and who can step in right away.

Wut.

Hogan had significant off field issues that crept into the club with him the past 2 years. He was a slacker at training, with recovery, and wasn't listening to coaches or instructions. You can only coast along on natural talent for a limited time.

His last off season only confirms 100% the right decision was made.

Excellent trade by Melb I'd say for a great return.

(what they did with Pick 6 is a different story tho lol)

Excellent trade by Melb I'd say for a great return... except for the fact they traded in Steven May.
EFA

Should've kept the top 5 pick.
