I just remember the opposition constantly dragging him to the goal square and kicking goals on him. Lol. The best is that Fox Footy analysis clip with Kingy talking to the Pies players about tactics, all of the highlights were against Plowman. But can play small!

You're getting warmer... ever see our 'smalls' play defensively?

Tommy Papley will be #BoundByBlue. I am not one to overreact from an emotional hysterical perspective but

Can't help but feel genuinely excited and optimistic for the first time in literally a generation (time wise) of being a Blue Bagger..

The same Richmond who’s best 22 backline has Rance, Astbury, Grimes and Broad?

Feels like it kind of mirrors Jones, Weitering, Marchbank and Plowman...
I agree. There’s is too tall too. That’s why without rance they’ll likely improve and win another flag.

I’m more worried about Richmond’s fwd line. It’ll smack our defence.

WCE run quite a tall backline as well

Let's not get too ahead of ourselves, a couple of people in the media thinking he'll leave does not equal us getting Papley.

They aren’t actually. He plays smaller. Is more aggressive offensively. Scores goals. And can intercept as good as all of them as the spare when allowed.

Carlton will not be a successful side with Plowman, Marchbank, Weitering and jones all playing in the same side. Which is why Newman plays a role.

Try fitting this together for 2020 for me:
Jones
Weitering
Plowman
Marchbsnk
Docherty
Newman
Simpson
Williamson
SPS

If we play 4 talls and two smalls we will remain Irrelevant for a very long time.

Geelong have consistently played Harry Taylor, Mark Blicavs, Tom Stewart and Jake Kolodjashnij this year and have gone ok.

Does your carlton backline win a premiership, does it? No. four talls and no Newman or Simpson. This backline loses nearly every inside 50 to richmond. ALL OF THEM in the wet.

Sorry.
Will become horses for courses IMO.
Certainly not too tall for Kennedy, Darling, Allen/Waterman, Hickey/Vardy/Nic Nat (and flyin' Ryan)
or Hipwood, McStay, McInerney/Martin, Rayner
or Cameron, Himmelberg, Finlayson
maybe Hogan, Lobb/Darcy, Taberner/Cox/McCarthy/Dixon, (and Fyfe)
perhaps Wright, King, Lukosius/Day
Lewis, O'Brien, Ceglar/Pittonet, with Gunston and Wingard thrown in
even Richmond with Lynch. Riewoldt, Balta/Chol and Martin, with Caddy a possible have a new demographic.
Saints will have King, Membrey, McCartin and pending trade Bruce to accommodate
so will Sydney play Buddy, Reid and Daniher? along with Heeney and Blakey.

Trends can alter very quickly. We are pretty much equipped to cover any eventuality. If fit, I can't fit them all in, and yet we often still talk
of needing a dashing rebounder or a lock down small.

Many examples, very good backlines play in zones and know when to peel off and attack or actually when to defend.

It also helps if those talks can play on mediums and stalls when needed.

I’ve seen enough to suggest ours can in the main.

You just named 2 teams we beat without 1-2 of the 4. Maybe that’s the reason.

Bolded should be in the 2's for mine. Problem solved.

They’re about to go out in straight sets because the forward lines that they play against are small.
They haven’t beaten a top 8 side outside GMHBA stadium since round 10.
They’ve only won 4 times this year v a top 8 side. They’ve beaten none in the top 8 ANYWHERE since round 12

That's not why they are about to go out straight sets.
