Loved SPS off half back, I was most worried about his defence in the air when the switch was made but he impressed the hell out of me in that facet of the game.

imo, over the next season or two the biggest area of improvement for him is to broaden the scope of his elite kicking. If he can move his eyes from those 15-30 metre kicks to consistently having the courage to hit 30-50 metre kicks then he’ll be an absolute star - wherever he plays

I loved his game against the dogs the most .. one thing he runs both ways and loves to tackle — his body strength for size and age is deceiving.. last year was his first full pre season expect him to really grow in midfield next year .. he adapted to HB mainly because he reads play well - he is to good in congestion to be stuck in back half ..he is our best kick by foot and has good vision . This year HB was out of necessity..

I think the fact he is good in congestion, has good vision and is a good kick is the exact reason he should stay across half back. When he is winning the ball in a contested situation in defensive 50 he generally finds some space and then finds a team mate by foot, other simply bomb it as far away as they can get which only results in it coming back in with interest.


Docherty off one HB and SPS on the other will make us an incredibly exciting side to watch.
