Judd had just as much success at Carlton.

You wouldn't be ashamed to have either career
Hodge hit many more of the success markers than Judd: Prem × 4, Prem captain × 3, Norm Smith × 2. Lead a cellar dweller to improved performance. Media or off field future set fits both players, the accolades for Hodge exceed Judd. Would take either career though.

not the point in question though is it? judd had me shaking my head in disbelief more than any other player but for mine hodge had the more all round impressive career.....
It’s my point and I’ll make it any way I want to.

We’re caught in this world of who’s better or who’s been the best and I don’t think it really matters that much.

We’re comparing oranges and oranges. Navels and Valencia’s. I’m sure I could come up with more orange analogies but then I’d be taking the pith.

Only on this forum could we possibly be arguing whether Hodge or Judd had the better career. Hodge easily.

Re the posts from SBYM, I am so pleased to hear the words “destination club” being used for us. Hopefully when Sam Walsh and Connor Roezee retire, the only board which is arguing about who had the better career is the Port Adelaide one. Walsh easily.

I qualified my statement a little later with the normal checks and balances of the list management team. However in the Betts case, it appears and move for him is hardly going to present a salary cap issue for the club or damage us in terms of our list management moving forward in what would probably be a one year deal, with a move to an off field role after that. In the Betts case SOS should appease Teague in this instance, IMO.

There are certainly benefits in grabbing Betts, such as memberships, mentoring and squad engagement.

Given where we are, it makes more sense adding younger and or 22-26 year old players that have an opportunity to be part of our next window

I think Papley will get done now. We are now a destination club. Alot trying to get to Ikon park. Teague a big reason.

We say this because it makes us feel better about ourselves, but for now we're still well behind several other Melbourne clubs, including Hawthorn, Collingwood and Richmond, at least. We can be seen to be a destination because we have immediate gaps to fill and opportunity accounts for plenty...but we have some way to go, before you'd want to go to Teague before a Clarkson or even a Buckley.

We may be a destination club relative to St.Kilda, North, The Dogs or Melbourne, but we're not the cream of the crop just yet.
Nothing wrong with that though, given where we are......but let's put things into perspective.
