5 years. Thats a random number. I see him in the brodie grundy mold. How long did he take?

Grundy's game went next level in 2017, aged 23.
Best ruckman in the league from 2018, aged 24.

Don't forget though, that Grundy was a super prospect. Tipped to be a top 5 pick, IMO the best ruck prospect (as a junior) since NicNat.

The way he has turned out is probably the best you could hope for.

I generally don't expect to see ruckman much before they are 22. Start playing regular footy 22-24yo. The best rucks in the league are usually 25+, often hitting their peak in their late 20s to just over 30...

I am no rush with TDK.

That doozy truly damaged our prospects for years, what a bloody boo boo that was.
The most idiotic trade maneuver ever made and only absolved because Rogers & Hughes pick Bagger Champion Patrick Cripps with pick 13.

It just goes to show how terrible our recruiting was.

Cripps' selection I predict was an absolute fluke. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

I remember Williams was brought in from Geelong that year to work under Rogers and quit a few months later because Rogers and McKay wouldn't take any of his advice!

Yeah, I don't recall Malthouse going to Sydney in relation to that deal, he did however go to Sydney to talk to Everitt before he signed with us.

My mistake. It was Everitt related not Jasckshtk

MM still a ***** tho.

There's a Twitter account?

I calculate it in excel. I've done it often enough that I remember the date of their last win.

Plus the effort of calculating it yourself makes the answer just that little bit more rewarding ;)

Enjoy :rainbow:

Barass is probably on holidays or something

Barass is like one of the protagonists in the book of judges.. God sends them down when he needs stuff done.

Just like Samson slaughtering 1000 people the jaw bone of donkey. God needed that done.

The entire setup was a joke. The two years Rogers was in charge we actually done pretty well overall though.
It’s funny because his biggest mistake was the Jaksch trade, funnily enough SOS also made a mistake on him. Same as SOS’s biggest success at Carlton was the Curnow pick which we would’ve missed had he got his way and traded it for Tomlinson. So many sliding doors.
No doubt it takes abit of luck because everyone stuffs up but atleast now the processes we have in place we can actually have faith in.

Just saw an article on St Kilda's Twitter saying Henry Playfair has resigned as back line coach to join Carlton

Great news, Playfair has been a highly rated assistant in system for a few years now.
Terrific coup, our coaching panel is shaping up nicely with the addition of Luke Power as well.
Looks the club is finally putting lots of Dollarydoos into the footy department, and players and Teague will be the better for it 👍👍👍

No rush at all for him the only worry is if we get two to three years down the track with the expectation that he will take the mantle and it turns out he isn’t up to it. They are bloody hard to pick. It wasn’t long ago St Kilda thought they were set with Hickey and Longer and they both turn out no good and are saved by Marshall. I’m more than happy for us to try and find another one in the draft this season as a fallback.

For this reason, I think its generally not worth drafting 18yo rucks, at least at the sharp end of the draft.

Lots of them won't work out, and the ones that do take years and lots of development.

I say get someone else to take the risk, do the work, and then try and poach them.

Sure, it will cost you much more in picks (and maybe $) vs homegrown, but you are buying a known quantity and saves time and cap space by not having to pay guys for 6 years to develop....
