According to FoxSports, Norf were offering Paps $900K but he knocked it back for ~$600K with Blues. Go Carlton!! The club to play with in 2020!
liking that trend, the money we will save when the entire list are volunteers who "just want to play for carlton".......

It was nice of us to change our coach, start winning games and not stuff up the AFL's compensation plans for Gold Coast. I'm very happy not to be asked to get the begging bowl out this year. Not having to bid on their academy players and including Darwin in that academy area could be huge for them

Still they are still going to be on the bottom or thereabouts for next few years and the exodus will continue. Tom Lynch has shown why you don't sign a long term contract there. I hope SOS is already talking to Anderson and Rowell about them joining us in 2022!

Looking forward to them going bust and all their good players moving to Tassie. Close to 40,000 signed on to support a Tassie team.

NB: “While the package is set for three years to provide certainty to players, staff and the entire industry, the AFL Commission retains the right to remove future picks and / or academy access based on the club’s performance."
THIS is the bigger issue. Knowing when to wind down the welfare, like Swans receiving COLA money whilst being successful.

The Gold Coast experiment is too far down the track to up and move it to Tasmania, but I would like to see expansion in the next 5-10 years.

Only my opinion but I think the AFL should’ve gone down the Tassie path first...

I agree with you on Tassie.

Luckily the AFL is very good at admitting when it has made a mistake and always improves things when it intervenes.

Unpopular opinion, but I think the assistance package is spot on, AFL had a decision to make, either fold them or give it one last crack and we know they need players. None of this half in business of the last few years
Let them f.....n fold I say. Past history shows every non-traditonal sporting club venture there on the GC has struggled due to no local community support.

can't recall disagreeing more with a post - I care zero for the plight of these contrived entities and their frankenstein lists......fu** them to hell.....

But seriously, your son is awesome. Well done. :thumbsu:

Player retention is the issue for them

I can’t believe we lost to them

Not just players, the club is a complete mess from top to bottom. I recall the Bears were in a similar situation a few years back and they've done an amazing job turning their club around.

WTF!

Gold Coast assistance package includes:
- Picks 1 and 2 @ '19 Draft.
- The first pick of the second round (currently pick 20) @ '19 Draft.
- Mid first-round pick (currently pick 11) @ '20 Draft.
- The first pick of the second round (currently pick 19) @ '21 Draft

Perfect year for Carlton not to have a pick inside the first three rounds. Do your best, sos!
