Yep and I think Silvagni is a nice option on the bench, as he can play forward or even go in the mid to play on a bigger opponent (as seen with Fyfe early this yr)
Yep, that’s how I see it as well, at least initially

Plenty to play out but it seems to me that the overtly negative mindset will finally be cast away from the club as a whole.
It's possible and most likely probable, that we'll actually be an exciting team to watch come 2020 and onwards.

Not sure why so much focus on Fisher's year.

Yeah, he went 5-10% backwards, but his 2018 was way above expectations (was statistically the AFL's best teenager).

We won 1 match until mid-year, with huge pressure on coach and club. Andthen in the second half of the year he was shuffled off to a HFF.

Is anyone really surprised he didn't take another step up this year?
If I’m gonna be honest I was expecting him to improve. We all know he has the skill set. Something wasn’t right with him..maybe effected by the different game plans or positions he had to play in. He certainly showed heaps in patches. Hopefully 2020 will be his breakout year.

Too much to catch up on, i'm just going to assume most of it isn't worth reading?

You didn't miss anything.

Although thankfully the discussion did improve from discussing racing stripes on Falcons/Commodores....

I'll go my forwards with

Betts Curnow McGovern
Papley McKay Cuningham

Martin to a wing.
Jack on the bench with forward rotations.

Beautiful thing is Martin, Papley, Cuningham can all go through the guts whilst Murphy, Cripps, Gibbons etc have a rest forward.

Also if we can get Butler I would. Eddie is only going to give us a year or two and injuries happen. He will play games and be a role player going forward.

List is really shaping up if we land these guys who have nominated.

It would of been hard for discussion not to have improved from that.

I just noticed a Countdown clock @ https://www.afl.com.au/news/trade

Surely that isn't right? That's the Free Agency period?

Patient guys... Papley and Martin will be at Carlton next year.
Thank you Barass ..... I have no insider knowledge but given the fact that I know SOS is the third coming after Judd .... I predicted 3 weeks ago we would get both of them ..... and we will!
I am starting the church of SOS .... it will be in a church opposite Princes Park ..... only the true believing bluebaggers are welcome

With some great detective work I can reveal that Barass is actually

Sam McClure who is also the secret long lost son of Mark 'Sellers' McClure. 🙂🙂🙂

100% agree with all of that.

What greater incentive could we need to get the ball inside 50 quickly?

Here's one potential scenario we could do only involoving WCE, another future first swap is involved again...

this enables us to help WCE to land Kelly but to deliver direct picks for our trades by gaining a good second rounder for the Martin trade and some later pick shuffling for all round evenness for both clubs...

2019 Carlton 9, 41, 46, 69, 82
2020 Carlton 3, 21, 39, 57, 75
2019 WestCoast 14, 24, 33, 61
2020 WestCoast 14, 32, 50, 68

2019 Carlton IN 24 (785pts) 33 (563pts) OUT 41 (412pts) 46 (331)
2020 Carlton IN 14 (1161pts) 68 (59pts) OUT 3 (2234pts) 57 (182pts)
2019 WestCoast IN 41 (412pts) 46 (331) OUT 24 (785pts) 33 (563pts)
2020 WestCoast IN 3 (2234pts) 57 (182pts) OUT 14 (1161pts) 68 (57pts)

2019 Carlton 9 Papley , 24 Martin , 32 Draft? (trade up possible) ,69? ,82 Betts
2020 Carlton 14 (possible trade target) 21 , 39 , 68
2019 WestCoast 14 Kelly , 41 , 46 , 61
2020 WestCoast 3 Kelly , 32 , 50 , 68

WestCoast get Kelly (which to them is all that matters) by handing over 2019 first #14 and future first #3 which in all likelihood could be much higher giving the trade a better outcome in our favour...
Swaping out next years first might all depend on landing a top line player yet to be locked in this year, good picks in this years and next years second and third to trade up or trade in with ...

WCE May be dumb enough to think next years Pick will be 3 (unlikely), but they then have to fool Geelong (unlikely)

So lots of effort there but can’t see it happening

I'd try -

Cuningham CCurnow Papley
Betts McKay McGovern

Martin plays wing or HBF.
No need for Butler I'd say.

The forward line would finally have some speed, tricks and strength about it.
Won't hurt for the talls to come back a bit fitter and stronger either.

Harry CHF, Charlie out of the square.

Backlines shitting themselves.

How do the newbies slot in?

I think Butler becomes Eddie's replacement in the long term (and in the short term, he is injury cover for Eddie/Paps/Martin/Cunners).

Eddie Charlie Papley
Martin McKay McGovern

Cunners
starts on Bench for mid/forward rotations.

I like the idea of Martin back. Even back pocket a la Jetta from Melbourne.
Martin is very courageous, strong overhead and a great kick.
He's exactly what we need as small defender. IMHO

Lots of good to very good prospects in this years potential trades. Even just pap and Martin would be huge for our team.

We know that we're now positioning ourselves where the draft isn't the be-all and end-all for the club.
We knew that at soon as we flipped firsts with Adelaide in order to attain Stocker, last year.

On face value now, the CFC came out miles in front having made that trade, as Adelaides pick #4 isn't going to garner anything like they thought it may, only 11 months ago. Nothing wrong with what Adelaide did, but may be possible and almost probable, that Stocker alone may have been seen to be better than for what we would have taken should have we kept this pick. To have then added Papley for what can be viewed as next to nothing, is a real fillip for the club.
