GC have what we want (Martin).

Adelaide have what GC want (Greenwood).

We have something of value that GC feel is equitable to what Adelaide wants (Adelaide asking for 20 from GC for Greenwood, GC valuing him below that but higher than their next pick and needing to get a deal done with us).

GC can sell the trade as Martin for Greenwood. Trading out a player who doesn't want to be there but more importantly trading in a player who is happy to play for Gold Coast.

This source is firmly on the Gold Coast side of the fence.

Edit: one last thing I got from this source was that the "rescue package" the AFL gave Gold Coast was significantly more than what they originally requested when they approached the AFL last month. The feeling is that the AFL went OTT so they can scale it way back rather than giving them continual handouts. That if GC can't make it from here they're done.

Does anyone watch the AFL trade game? I just can’t get over how bad Tom Browne is, he said Suns want a first rounder for Martin because they will be able to get that next year as free agent compo. Only problem with that is Martin is uncontracted this year. I wish there was some accountability for the rubbish they say.

Just on Dwyane Russell, I Don't think he hates us or has a grudge against us per se, he is just a pompous goose that annoys supporters of all clubs (Port Adelaide fans really dislike him these days for some reason)

The best callers or special comments crew are guys (or women for that matter) with no club bias/impartial, like the superb Brenton Speed

The worst commentator in any sport going around though is Jim Courier. Now that C9 have the Aus Open rights, we have seen/heard the last of him

Surely BT has Courier covered for worst commentator. Courier at least has decent on court interviews with the tennis players.

On trade radio today (or Sen can't remember) they were talking about how gws only trades the players they want to trade and keep the ones they want to keep. Said there was only 2 players they have lost that their coach regrets and didn't want to happen. Marchbank was one of them. I'm not sure on the other, don't think they said. They did say it wasn't Shiel or Smith though

I think this is because of their large surplus of mids to be honest. They dont have the same surplus of defenders- as evidenced by their GF performance. Having Marchbank would have given them depth that they currently dont have. Their forward situation had a similar glut a few years ago

Eddie is all for "Big AFL" . He knows a resurgent Blues will reignite traditional rivalry's especially with the pies, which all adds up to more interest , dollars and bigger AFL. Say what you like about Eddie, but he is bloody good for the Game.

Dan on Blue Abroad had an interesting theory which does make sense - Toby Greene. He’s on a lot of money and the Giants do have a lot of young talent coming through. We have the money and the need. Dan was basing this on analysis and not anything he had heard.

Agreed he was untouchable. But after letting his team down and also pretty much completely ignoring his coach and getting suspended may have changed things. He’s also on a very lucrative package - he may even be the highest paid player at the Giants. So you never know.

You are spot on about that, and Richmond not only got him but another 18 year old for more list depth!!! Gil the dill didn`t give a rats arse when the best forward in the comp went to the team that had been premiers the year before, but he sure spoke up about Coniglio when we tried to land him.............equalisation, pigs arse!!!!! it just keeps Richmond at the top of the tree and makes it more difficult for the other clubs......... bums on seats again!!!
