Has Jack Viney been shut down? Just popped back into my head remember his name being thrown around a little bit.

Just with Papley. We have 4ITK's who have said he will be at CFC next year (barass70, carlton09, OR(talking footy) and reg_lower91). Surely this fills people with a bit more confidence then Sam Edmund saying that the trade won't happen "at this point".

Not really, the kid is a great player, 82 games from 4 seasons and contracted for another 4, why wouldn't Sydney ask for 2 firsts? We did for Gibbs and he was at the end of his career and only 1 year on his contract left when traded. Even if they did get Daniher, they bring in a player who may be past his best and give away a kid who is 23, kicked over 100 goals, as a Sydney fan I would not be happy. We seem to forget our posturing when Gibbs was on the way out. I think he is worth every bit of pick 9, Sydney are in the box seat on this one, so no, I don't feel overly confident.

Poor 'g'. what the hec did it do wrong? It's just not the same without it. No Grit. No Grunt. No GetupandGo.
Actually,
I'm gonna do that last one right now.

Could still be in play and he did well in their best and fairest. Will be interesting if he is the solo captain now or if they handover to Gawn.

I think Wines could still be in play. Likewise Gaff. Nothing to say it’s not them. Could also be Brayshaw or Petracca or even McCluggage or Greene. Nothing to the contrary on any of those. We could end up with no one as it may fall through and we will never know who it was. But it makes for an exciting two weeks. And another 40,000 posts...

I reckon these Crows players leaving (Greenwood, CEY, Betts, Knight potentially, Jenkins, etc etc etc) will have a huge bump in production. The Crows environment - if even half is to be believed - will be severely screwed their development/performance.

So I can see a happy Betts - even if he were 50 - kicking bags and having a ball; Jenkins, CEY and Greenwood thriving with consistent first team roles; and Knight types re-igniting their passion. He'd do well in our side under Teague - playing more freely and attacking everything that moves.

Apart from some misguided and destructive head games at the pre-season camp, what is the story of what went down at Adelaide? There has to be more to it, surely

From the reports/news I've read, the short story is:
  • The Crows ordered Collective Minds in for the preseason after the GF loss and went way overboard with strategies to try and harden them up mentally and emotionally to go one better in 2018
  • The players were extremely unhappy about tons of elements of it and ordered the club to end their relationship with them not long after
  • After losing a stack of games early in the year, Pyke and the club went against player wishes and got CM back anyway, presumably creating even more distrust and discontent among the playing group
  • 2018/19 has then seen a swag of their players regress, resulting in their performance dropping through the floor - likely as a direct or flow-on result of the above

It's funny how within about half a day of being assured of trading in Papley and Martin by an ITK (B70 this time) we go all negative and need another ITK post to calm us down again.
Trust B70.
Thats all I have to say...

Interestingly I flagged this stuff with paps earlier in the No Discussion thread, from someone very close to the Sydney Board.

I wonder if now this is indicative of some disharmony in Sydney? Can't remember a Board coming out publicly any time previously (but my memory is pretty shocking) and saying a player was off the table, and the wording now makes me wonder if they are sending a message to their own footy dept just as much as the Blues and media.

Big fish in the works. May not get both paps and Martin if we land it. Elite midfielder. Don't ask who the player is.

Source: past multiple premiership player and inner sanctum member.

Intriguing...

Gonna spitball a few names for discussion's sake. These are guys I think would entertain leaving their current club for the right deal. Have ignored those who have recently re-signed and those who seem firmly entrenched, as well as those who you'd be too hard-pressed to describe as "elite" currently (ie. Cerra).

Out of contract in 2020 - Petracca, De Goey, Crouch
Get-out clause in contract - Gaff
Out of contract in 2021 - other Crouch, Hopper, Oliver

I'd also add that from the outside a clique developed within the playing group those saying the club was wonderful and the camp was best thing ever, and at least publically expressed disappointment with this coming out. Those that were upset by goings on eg Eddie Sauce etc

eg “I 100 per cent came back from that camp feeling like a better husband, a better son and a much better teammate than when I was before I left for that camp. For me the experience was unbelievable,” Sloane said.

"Walker said the pre-season camp had been beneficial for him. “You’ve got to open yourself up and be vulnerable and men don’t like doing that. And culturally we’re all different.’’

!!!TIN FOIL HAT TIME!!!

Gil and AFL House want the Suns and Swans up and about as quickly as possible and are happy to stiff us over to do so. As such, they have instructed Swans to hold firm on Papley. They've also instructed Gold Coast demand our pick 9 for Martin to help accelerate their rebuild.

Swans - keep Papley, get Daniher, lose pick 5

Suns - lose Martin, get pick 9

Blues - lose pick 9, get Martin

Essendon - loae Daniher, get pick 5

You'd think it would have to be Gaff or Oliver maybe. Surely we'd only sling our future 1st at a bonafide mid. Would a 1st get either of those? Gaff maybe.
