Sounds pretty spot on I reckon. Points trade with WC is perfect and does suit their needs.

14 for Papley will need a 3rd round sweetener. That way instead of on trading 9 to Bombers they trade 14 and get a 3rd rounder.

Value of trades:

WC points out: 1946. Carlton: 1881. Always a slight premium to higher picks. Tick.

Blues out 14 and a third (say next year 45): 1508 (back to the value of 8/9).

Sydney out: Papley and 4, in Daniher and 3rd rounder (us) and 2nd rounder (Bombers). Out value 3542. In Daniher + 347 + 750. Values Daniher at between pick 2 and 3 on his own.

Bombers lose Daniher and second round next year. Gain 14 and 4.

Seems....perfect.
I would try to avoid throwing in the third rounder for next year, only because it prevents us from being able to trade next years 1st (AFL rule) just limits options, even though realistically I don’t see where it could possibly go, but leave it available incase something becomes available otherwise we have to find a way to get a third back for next year and I don’t see the currency to be able to do that. We could always ask the afl for the exemption, they have given it before, but then your relying on our plan matching their agenda

Casboult not on today’s FA list. So presume that means he’s contracted. Can’t go Fa.

Maybe I missed it. I felt there was a view he was still a FA and had the option to trigger himself.

This is the second time in a week we have articles picking on us going cold on Ellis for no reason, trying to defend him going from premiers to the spooners.

Wonder if SOS will be asked and will he respond given the info we had on here was that it was Ellis's fault asking for more money.

As someone said on the main board , if Ellis didn't up his terms then why did SOS pull the deal ??

Also, whilst his manager is having a whinge, exactly how far had the deal progressed when he said they hadn't yet started discussing financials (in attempting to diffuse allegation of Ellis increasing his demands).

If they hadn't discusssed financials then presumably there was no deal to reneg on - from either party ???

That would be the exact kind of thing prohibited by the clause that everyone is talking about with Papley (a one sided option to extend).

Going by that provision in the CBA, only automatic triggers seem to be able to be included. There wouldn't be much point to a trigger if both sides had to agree to invoke it - it would have no point.

Seems he is contracted after all.

And so is Mumford.

For me it smacks of desperation from the Swans. Injury prone not in the same class as Buddy.
The guys a freak. Check out his stats in 2017 at age 23. Two years hampered by injury he would be the Coleman medalist if he could stay on the park. I can only expect it's because he doesn't feel he's injury hasn't been handled properly he wants to go... That and the fact that the Bombers can't pay him nearly as much. He will tear it apart once he's fully fit and work pick 5 & 9, the only really why people can argue otherwise is being injury prone. Sydney will have done their due diligence in that regard you wouldn't cough up those draft picks unless you are absolutely certain he will get back to his best, and then some.

He will tear it apart if he commits to doing what he needs to do to recover fully from his injury. This is part of the reason that Essendon have nudged him towards leaving.

I’m not sure they want the truth. The angle is ‘poor Ellis’ so anything that doesn’t fit with that is irrelevant.

Plus after all this they’d need to be damn game to ask Sos his opinion. He’d be a loaded shotgun.

He's from the Tiwi Islands not the Torres Strait Islands.
The Chooky dancers from nearby Elcho Island visited my house a few years ago. Absolutely beautiful kids, nearly all of them wearing Victorian AFL jumpers.

Wonder how Gold Coast feels about this "poor Ellis" routine in the media? If they weren't so desperate for anyone, I'd suggest they pull the deal. You don't want players who don't want to be there.

Also would like to ask Pask when they started chatting with Gold Coast......surely they weren't talking to two teams at the same time?

Papley talks progressing well. Betts trade is almost too good to be true given how little money the club will have to pay him
I wonder if it’s a “keep your mouth shut” about what has gone on at the club the last two years Eddie and we will get you wherever you want type of setup.

It’s strange because player options make perfect sense imo.
