Story goes that GC and Collingwood were discussing possible trade scenarios using GC's first rounder (ie. Pick 1 this season), and Adam Treloar's name was brought up by one party (not clear which). Both clubs were evidently open enough to the possibility that the prospect was run by Treloar himself, who promptly shut it down.
If I had to guess, I'd say GC approached Collingwood, asked about the chances of dealing Pick 1 for a senior midfielder, put Treloar's name on the table, and Collingwood weren't completely averse to the potential of a Treloar for Rowell deal.
I thought I'd read that these discussions took place late last year (ie. for GC's "future" first round pick), but it appears that's not the case. Reported to have been the second half of season 2019.
Maybe Treloar is miffed at the Collingwood list management team, but I don't think we'd have the currency to get the deal done. As much as Collingwood might have been interested if it was Rowell coming their way, I sincerely doubt they're as excited about Pick 9 plus our future pick (8-12?).

Trade Transaction Period starts in about 4 days time... but 80% will happen on last day.Does anyone know when the trade period starts?
Treloar is a good player ... his best asset is his pace and ability to find the ball ... but he turns it over a lot too ... but he is the type we need ... high accumulating mid with pace ...
Perhaps... But i'd think it's a real kick in the teeth from your own club where you feel as though you are in the top 5 but they're still willing to fish you about.
I'd be upset.

Good sleuthing7 years of bad luck......
Treloar is #7, moved to the filth in ‘17 because of “better prospects” than Richmond... Richmond win GF in ‘17...
Filth lose to GWS to get in GF, with Richmond. Treloar could have played for either side in this year’s GF. That’s pretty bad luck....
I would not be paying two firsts for Treloar but that’s just my opinion ...Not doubting that - just that Collingwood would accept Pick 9 and our future first for a bloke with a four year contract.
Pick 1 would have been a tempting carrot for GC to dangle, Rowell is apparently in a similar vein to Walsh (high production, super professional, ready to go). Pick 9 + future Pick 9? Not so much, that's a couple of speculative "good" players in those two drafts.
Maybe Treloar is good enough that we pay more?
But then we're talking about missing Papley AND Martin AND our future first for Treloar.
Or Papley AND our future firs AND a player (ie. Casboult?).
That's a big price to pay, and whilst Treloar would help our midfield in a really big way, it would mean we go another year without addressing other pressing needs.
My guess is Sloane. I know he approached Richmond for a trade last year, but the tigers couldn’t fit him in their salary cap. Good mates with Eddie, big fan of Teague.

We had not a deal by other club that we can agree to so it is wise to look at a bigger fish if it all of a sudden shows up.I understand the drama around this big fish, but wouldn't people just prefer us get deals done for Papley and Martin,
I don't get all the cloak and dagger BS. Its a footy fan forum, If you have some info whats the point in being cryptic about it? The whole 'if you only knew what I knew' or 'everything will be revealed' angle is tiresome.
True, but our ITK's have been adamant that the Papley and Martin trades will get done, just not sure what we would have left to offer a big play (like Gaff etc). Hopefully SOS can pull off something ridiculousWe had not a deal by other club that we can agree to so it is wise to look at a bigger fish if it all of a sudden shows up.
If Shuey or Sloane were all of a sudden wanting to get here, I would make that a bigger priority of previous Papley priority.
Even if young Caldwell was a realistic hope I'd even grab him before Papley if it is easier to do as a trade.
