Here is my thoughts on the way the day pans out.

Kelly & 36 to the Eagles for picks 14, 24 and their 2020 first-rounder.

Pick 24 to the Saints for Steven

Pick 24 to the Swans For Jones (maybe something else from the Saints as well?)

Papley and pick 24 to the blues for 9 and 41 (?)

Pick 24 to the Suns for Martin

In regards to TheRedPill latest No Discussion post, is there a reason we didn’t pursue? Was it the $$ cos I thought we would be itching for a gun mid to get in and help out Crippa.

Geelong are actually getting more than that for Kelly.

WCE will hand over this years picks 14,24,33 and next years 1st round

Geelong give back this years 3rd round and next years 3rd round.

In terms of draft points, it’s a new record

Think Geelong will then give saints pick 33 for jack Steven

I'm over the mystery player. Been racking my brain trying to think of the mystery visionary that no longer posts Harker alluded to. Is it Starchamber?

Not saying it won't happen but I don't see the need to throw in 33 into that deal.

Doubt it would be salary cost. Given the names who have been speculated about, I’d guess it would be a combination of trade cost and fit, ie not matching our list management strategy

Looks pretty good....although you'd think that Swans would be more interested in a future pick (probably 3rd round) instead of pick 41, so they can get currency for their academy kids next year.

I'm pretty sure the player TheRedPill would've been talking about was Crouch, who we've likely ruled out. As to WHY he was turned away, well it'd either be because the demands/cost were too high; he wasn't the type of player we were after; or because we've got another in that same bracket (read: Gaff) that we're still in the hunt for.

I thought its more likely to be trade currency and we'd have to start look at players out to get more currency?

TheRedPill will have disappointed the Chief by calming us all down!

If it is one of the more talked about then ... probably Brad Crouch and that means trade and $$$ cost would be high for someone who is good at getting the ball but not brilliant with what he does with it. He may improve and become a superstar but probably not worth that risk in trade cost.

I guess all clubs are waiting for that first trade to drop (non free agent trade), then it'll be bang!

I suspect Eddie trade will be done last hour in order to give them the lowest draft pick possible whilst retaining higher based picks for other trades... why give away a 3rd/4th rounder now when that could be used for another player X. In the end Adelaide will accept a 6/7/8th rounder etc if that's all we have available.

In hindsight I believe the mystery player was Gaff. It's a telltale sign that we've been told that we're out of the race for the mystery player almost the moment it was reported that Geelong and West Coast found a deal. I think Gaff may have seen the writing on the wall of A) a potential salary cap squeeze and B) that the Eagles may have had to trade someone of profile to get Kelly over the line and now that neither of those are eventuating he's safe in the knowledge that he's staying put.

Yes, I know posters have said it wasn't. But it just makes too much sense.

Incorrect for the most part.

You're right in saying he was constantly positive. Even when criticism was valid and regarded by most as reasonable he would refute it without providing sufficient evidence.

He was too heavily invested too see the bad with the good. And would label everyone who didn't see it his way as oblivious and/or as a "negative" poster. It rubbed many people the wrong way.

Good riddance. If you're not going to be reasonable and accept that people see it differently to you and at times you can be wrong, then you're better off not being on an internet forum.
Which part of my statement was incorrect?

I said he was
1. positive about the list
2. found small wins among the bad games
3. didn’t join the Lynch mob when we had poor results

Say what you like about the rest of his contributions, he always backed our players which is what I pointed out.

Not ideal we haven't addressed our most pressing needs. Yes we need small crumbing type players however we have too many flankers now and urgently needed to provide some assistance to Cripps. Lets hope we don't trade a future first for Martin. That would be a disaster.
