"Sack Goodwin!"

Bump.

There are not many teams (if any at all) playing outstanding footy at the moment. However, we still look like we’re towards the bottom of the pile of s**t.

We still look bereft of confidence and structure and still seem to fall into the same tactical traps. These are all factors that eventually get sheeted home to the coach. Even if 2018 was an overachievement, even if last year was the worst preseason ever does that still justify the 6 wins out of 25 matches (the same W-L ratio as Gold Coast) since being humiliated in the 2018 prelim? Even within those 6 wins it has been largely ugly stuff. You’d just about have to go back to 2018 to find a solid performance.

It’s commonly accepted that we are in no position to pay out Goodwin with 2+ years to run on his contract. Hopefully, if this keeps up, there’s some kind of performance clause in the deal that allows us to fire him for incompetence (although that in itself would’ve been an alarming level of unMelbourne like competence). However, with the club now rattling the tin again can they afford to keep up the current performances and not have fans turning away in droves?

Remember when a bunch of you fools were calling to sack him? :drunk::rolleyes:

...and here we are, first time playing finals since 2006! o_O :D

How does it feel knowing just how Off the mark that opinion is?:sick::poo:

lol

Finals Baby! ;) :p :D

This OP still makes me laugh, talk about going early.

If we keep regressing like this we won't have a club to follow in five years time. Scary how every single player on the list except Petracca have gone backwards since the 2018 prelim.

Is Alan Richardson still there, and what does he do? It's not helping bringing a fresh approach to a team that has lost games the same way for years.
According to the article he is director of coaching. It also says he’s an experienced tactician. Maybe he needs to have a chat with Goody.

Article also describes who our other coaches are and what they do, which include a backline coach and a midfield coach, missing however is a forward line coach. As they say in the classics, well there's your problem

It stands out that’s for sure. If you don’t score you don’t win. Simple. Astonished we wouldn’t have a forward coach. Especially with the amount of inside 50s we generate and lack of scoring.

Saints have been ok on the outside/offense lately but seem to have found a solid defence to back it up this year.
Chalk and cheese between the Saints forwardline to ours. Roughead might have been an inspired choice too. King looks outstanding as well. And we won't even play Weideman!
