Also looking forward to Martin Clarke but I doubt he'l play much this year. Pendles set for a great year... I'm looking forward to 2007. All 9 youngsters above could be in the squad, but it's a bit hard to squeeze in. Plus I left Cloke and O Brein off the list because I couldn't fit them in. Talent and depth... I'm loving my footy right now

i wanna see Ryan Cook, Iv heard alot about him and would like to see if hes what iv heard about him

We must have the most talented squad of youngsters going around...

It's not a bad list Tark's....I (and it seems most others) are hangin to see Pendle's take on the best midfielder's in the game. He has class, polish and style written all over him in what?? 5-6 games? He's gonna be very special. What's his pace like? I know he's reflexes are second to none. I believe he has a solid basketball backround too which helps I guess. When I saw him steal the ball away from Willo against Sydney like that I almost ejaculated. But seriously his beautiful left foot coupled with his ability to think on his feet....Im salivating.

Hawthorn have the most talented squad of youngsters. Lets not get too ahead of ourselves here. We dont have stand out talents like the Hodges and Mitchells but we do have a handful of quality youngsters who can become consistent stars.

I voted for Pendles. He has gotten a full pre-season under his belt. Lets not forget he got taken at #5 last year. Theres a reason for that. We'll be seeing a bit of it this season after getting to actually train since getting over his illness.

He wont be the only big improver.

*** Everyone also keep an eye out on Magic. Neon Leon will be out to prove last year wasnt a fluke before injuring himself. We are so swept up by our youngsters, we've forgotten that it was also out 2nd tier players who took a step up last year and will continue this year. I believe Leon Davis will be the one to fill Didaks spot this year and show the faithful what they've long waited to see from him.

Pendlebury for mine - As much as I rate Dale Thomas, before the 2004 draft I had Scott Pendlebury rated higher, and I still believe he could become the better player.

I believe Daisy will be a midfielder, albeit more of a James Hird midfielder than a Robert Harvey midfielder. However, Scott Pendlebury looks to be the type that spends every single second in the midfield.

While Dale Thomas will put utilities like Tarkyn Lockyer and Ryan Lonie under pressure, Scott Pendlebury is the one that will be putting pressure on guys like Shane O'Bree and Paul Licuria, at long last.

I can barely decide. I chose Pendlebury because I like the way he moves in heavy traffic. He reminds me of Shane Morwood with the time he seems to have to find an option.

But the others include:
Thomas: - seems to have been marked down by some on these boards including by our esteemed mod who thinks he'll be a handy replacement for Lockyer. He's better than that, Vinnie!!

Egan - genuine x-factor player. I rate him highly and in his thiurd season he should entrench himself in the starting 18

Anthony - old fashioned tough guy. I like the look of him too, and he must know that with the influx of tall defenders into our list that he needs to show a lot or he'll drop in the pecking order very quickly. I'm looking forward to Maxwell Brown and Anthony leading our defence for the next ten years

Nicholls - little Tony Francis type. Could make the grade.

Cook - the recruitment of Medhurst and the return from injury of Davis put him at the back of the pecking order. He'll battle with Medhurst for a spot in the team,a battle I look forward to.

I don't get why we are comparing our star draft pick from 2005 to a supplementary list player picked up in 1998. Thomas has more pace, footy smarts, and does those things that lift the team on the field. Tarks is a more, composed (a word selected very carefully, could have also had hesitant but doesn't sound as flattering) player who has shown leadership qualities around the club.

I picked Pendles. I reckon he might turn into something special, and I am really looking forward to seeing him take the next step.

PS I have daisy tabbed as a future star, but it is an expectation rather than a hope, so I'm not so keen to see him this year.

I'm not comparing Thomas to Lockyer in anything but position.

Guys like Lockyer and Lonie run through the midfield, while also swinging forward and back - They are utilities, much like Thomas will probably be, much like James Hird is. My point was that he will pressure their positions as he is likely to push them out of the side, creating competition for the spots.

Conversely, Pendlebury is more like to put pressure on guys like O'Bree and Licuria because he is likely to require a majority of his game time in the centre.

I fully expect Thomas to be much better than Lockyer and Lonie, just as I fully expect Pendlebury to be better than O'Bree and Licuria. Hell, I expect Nathan Brown to be much better than Presti, but it doesn't mean that he isn't going to play the same position Presti does, and to get that spot he's going to have to put the pressure on Presti and eventually move him out of that spot.

I voted Pendles.

The way he extracted some of the footy in clearances and handballed out to the outside players reminded me of Simon Black. Not necessarily quick by foot but quick in the mind with exquisite skills.

Gee, I hope he turns out like that.

Rusling and TCloke for me.. 3rd year players now and are ready to make a really big statement to everyone. With Tarrent gone, and Rocca hopefully deep there should be alot of room for both of them to really cause some problems.

As much as i love pentelebary and Dale, and as much quality they have shown, they are only 2nd year players and we cant expect that much, look at Delidio and Tambling.

However, i love the fact that our young list is going a little unnoticed by the rest of the football world, we have a loot of talented young places in the right moulds(along with quality senior players) and we will surprise many teams about the quality, abit like melbourne and the bulldogs have done.

ps - i bat over Hine
