Hello everyone and welcome to a new era of the Sweet FA. I doubt when Mobbs brough the sim to Bigfooty 30 seasons ago, he would have thought the league would have evolved into the powerhouse it is today. Here we are, 30 seasons later and it is shaping up to be a cracker.
In this clash, the Baghdad Bombers will face the Fighting Furies at Abdu Prison. I am joined by the much-maligned Bombers captain WaynesWorld19 and Furies skipper Tigerturbulance. Wayne and I have had to travel to Banhammer prison so that Turbo could participate.
ND: Alright, first of all, thanks lads for joining me. We may have to be careful here, I don’t really like the look of those guards over there. I am not going to ask what Turbo did to be put into solitary confinement, so let’s just get on with it shall we?
How did you both rate your S29, on and off field?
WW19 - On-field was very encouraging, started the climb at the ladder, knowing we had weights applied to us
Off-field we had a few things structured incorrectly, which affected engagement, particularly the rookies .....we also had to manage Santoz after the demoralising affect his rookie candidacy was callously rejected
Not even a PM from the Admin, which I thought was shoddy to such a young player.
The Bombers won 2 games of their first 5, and drew their R4 clash against the Gumbies. One of these wins was a giant upset against the Furies. They had a rather disappointing season on field, not winning more than 2 consecutive games. They finished second last with 5 wins, 11 losses, 1 draw and the second worst percentage in the league.
Off field, the Bombers did what the Bombers always do. Post a lot. They were one of the most active teams posting wise, although not the most enjoyed, but at the same time, the most engaged with. They also received much criticism for various scandals throughout the seasons, notably ones involving rookie TalkingFootyNow1223 and the edgy Metalcrusher.
TT - On field we did alright, won more than we lost and made finals just fell short 1 game. Also happy with team engagement, we averaged around 14 posters a match thread with a little of the posting load coming off TJASTA, Ned and myself. Piggy Smalls come on well as our rookie and brought a different porky flavour to the group and Rioli8217 although joined at the last part of the season provided instant impact. Off field we grew as a team, our LG has a couple of seasons under the belt and myself, TJASTA and Ned have had the Captains role so we all get what it takes to lead the club and keep the Furies in check, well off the goon long enough to get them on the paddock at least. It takes a different dynamic to run the furies because by nature we hate authority, rules, other non furies and most of our team.
The Furies had a poor start to the season losing their first 2 games, with one being a comfortable loss to the Bombers. They steadied the ship R3 with a win over the Roys and won their next 4 games. The Furies finished the season the same way they started it, losing 2 games, one of those being a thumping at the hand of the eventual premiers. Despite the poor start/finish, they managed to finish runner up at the end of the Home and Away season with 11 wins and 6 losses. Finals started badly for the Furies as they lost to the Demons week won, however prevailed against the Dragons in the Semi Final before being booted out by the Swamprats in the prelim.
Off field, the furies went ok. Just ok. We saw some great signs from up and coming posters Carson Dial and @bastty, as well as the sudden return of ex captain Wacky Tiger. However, they still looked low on depth, with most of the load being taken by the trio of Tigerturbulance, TJASTA and Ned_Flanders.
Now, let us put our focus toward S30.
ND: What are your hopes for S30? Strong posting unit? Flag win? Mobbs win? What is getting you going for this season?
WW19 - Top 8 is a non negotiable, we've made the alterations required to the club structure & already we're seeing the impact of those changes behind the scenes ....which will reflect in the season proper
The League will be surprised at the output of some of the unheralded draftees/ rookies
What gets me going ? .......knowing we're hated is pretty cool, knowing we'll be stronger than last season is testament to a lot of work done behind the scenes.
Turbo - We will win the flag and hearts of the rest of the SFA. The Furies had an exodus of players end of S25 and have been pretty much playing the same stick as a team for the last few seasons. S30 we have gone hard on picking up quality posters to give us more depth in the banter stakes. As much as other flogs want to hate us, I reckon they will still have to begrudgingly admit we in S30 are a good fighting unit and one of the best in match threads.

The Bombers mostly went the rookie path with recruitment apart from the return of ex Royal miggs. Some big losses here with Veteran Shermy and one of their best posters Riviat leaving the prison as well as solid contributor Norma Lee Ava. Apart from that, not a terrible off season, if these rookies can bring something good to the table and not just become mindless Bomber Drones.
ND: You have lost Norma Lee Ava to the Furies and Riviat to the Gumbies, how will this affect you as a posting group?
WW19: Norma Lee is and always will be a Bomber Matriarch .....of course she'll be missed, but our contributions to the growth of the league are equally a responsibility we take seriously

The Furies had the one of the better off season’s recruitment wise for S30. They needed an injection of posting talent and added S23 EKA winner and ex Wonders captain Elton Johns Wig, had the return of 2 ex captains tigland and Sterge, Bombers solid poster @noma lee ava as well as recruiting a rookie who has made an impact already in Mister M. They also delisted quite a bit of deadwood, mostly inactives so they have not lost any massive contributors.
ND - You have recruited rather well this season picking up Elton Johns Wig, Norma and ex captains Sterge and Tigland. Do you predict you'll be the most improved team posting wise this season?
TT - Absolutely, we didn't just pick up lose players, we targeted specific players that would bring skills that we lacked, also the fact they are all mongrels that love a scrap worked well. Ava brings beauty and a comic cutting wit that she uses beautifully with her imagery. Wigs is an experienced campaigner who loves producing media and getting amongst the drama of the SFA. Sterge and Tigland are previous captains and bring with them a history and pride that the Furies can draw on. The rub on us was we lacked depth and were short 2 good posters, well we have taken care of that and some!
ND: Which recruit (rookie or otherwise) are you most excited about?
WW19 - We won't put pressure on any rookie at this stage of the season .....but like the resurrection of snozulu from the Gumbies, expect a big season from miggs
Well we hope that's his plans .....S23 Bombers Best & Fairest, 2 times Premiership player at the Bombers
Was he ever a Royal ? ....no he's a returning Bomber, returning to where his true home is.
miggs made a promise last season that he was going to become more active this season and made an attempt to the beez. Will we see more of miggs? Or will we only see his usual come in and snipe?
TT – we only recruited one; Mister M because we couldn't fit any more in. We are looking after him before he heads off to the expansion team S31 if it gets up. Our hope is to corrupt him and make him goon addled and a constant pain in the arse to the vampires. What they don't relise is once a furie, always a furie, no matter what they do they wont get the furies stink off him.
He seems to be getting into some good rookie banter with Muddiemoose that is for sure. Nice to see some biff from rookies back.
ND: What players (in your team) would you like to see more of posting wise?

TT: Bastyy was quiet during S29 but picked up at the later end of the season and what I have seen I like. I think he will kill it this year and be one of the popular players amongst our team and the opposition.
