Just like to thank Aphrodite and the other Carlton mods who started the Bluemours NON Discussion Thread and who have kept it free of chat over the past few years.

It helps so much when you just don't have the time to read through this thread, cheers and great job.

Rumour FWIW - Rory Atkins leaving ADE. Has already selected a Vic club. It’s apparently us due to Gov and Eddie connection. Not the worst.

Uninspiring. Would be some handy depth/bottom 6 and create some competition but that’s about it. Happy with him on the cheap.

Harsh.

Can I assume Kane Lambert played solely as mid at Northern Blues and Port?

Is now a premiership winning HF/Mid.

Not sure why it is harsh, Lambert would play more minutes in the mid field than our 3 players combined even if he may be listed as a HF for Richmond and yes he did play a majority of his games in the midfield for the Bullants and Williamstown

Sloane is not spelled A T K I N S

Gibbons (or Harry for 10% with Charlie back).

In reality, Levi will likely play a fair bit next year but I just can't see how he, Charlie and Harry (and possibly Gov) play in the same team.

I think the preferred 3 prong attack with be Harry, Charlie & Gov. Casboult will get his chance as we know all 3 are injury prone. Its then up to him, like anyone who gets their chance, to keep his spot with form. This year his first half was outstanding and last 6 weeks has been very poor.

Parkin did exactly the same thing in 91, when they bought in players like Scholl, Aceri, Edgar, Athorn to plug the holes until they could get kouta, Ang, etc etc Ready ,and add Big Earl, Pierce etc . the difference I suppose was that it was a much older side with a lot of senior players already . But the reasoning was the same.

Still shake my head that Sholl, Athorn and Powell played in that 1993 grand final. no wonder we bloody lost (i didnt mind sholl in 1993 - sucked there after)

That's interesting too.

I heard Stocker in a similar style interview a year or so ago and i got the impression of a well spoken, interesting, intelligent and thoughtful young man from him too.

I heard the same interview and thought similar things, but he also spoke as someone who just knows the right things to say and that can sometimes be misleading.

Apparently Kristian Jaksch was in the same vein - had all the right answers, could theorise on what he needed to do to become a better footballer and had the kind of mental maturity that few young players have, but didn't apply himself to those notions.

It's hard not to be impressed by articulate answers, and maybe this was a part of why SOS rated him so highly, but until the players get integrated and the opportunity to test themselves it's all academic. Also keeping in mind Stocker has had a pretty privileged upbringing and that often brings with it a greater emphasis on being socialised and demonstrating efficacy, even projected efficacy, when it's necessary.

Have always liked Anderson

But seems more intent on proving how tough he is rather than impacting the game by actually winning the footy and bringing his teammates into the game

If Teague is going to persist with playing Cuners in a flank, then we will never see the best of him on a consistent basis

Long story short, Anderson is worth a mid to late 2nd
Cuners looks silk when he's got the ball, problem is he hardly ever gets it {that was the knock on him at U18s level}
Hope I'm proven wrong, looks like an overrated career tease to me

It would seem SOS' strategy/ inflexibility scuttled more than a few. For better or worse we will never know. Austin from all accounts far more pragmatic. I think with hindsight given where we are as a list, with the coin we have and coinciding with a large list of quality players seemingly available the change from SOS to Austin will be seen as having occurred just at the right time.

SOS never overpaid, so I agree that it probably cost us a player or two.

I just found out on the * board, Saad is worth 2 first round picks. How could we get another first round pick so we could afford him? Asking for a friend

As usual, * supporters over rating their players.
No chance an uncontracted HB is worth two first round picks.
