Really hope more supporters come around to this kind of thinking.

I feel like so many people are terrified by being burnt by a player coming good elsewhere, rather than actually proactively improving the side.

We have too many young mids, it's okay to trade a talented player as long as you address areas of weakness.

it’s a no brainer, happily move any of LOB, dow, Kennedy, stocker, philp if it meant getting an established star in. 2 could easily go

Look at Collingwood. A list of midfielders. If a player is good enough he'll find his way into the 22 regardless of where he actually plays.

Assuming they all make the cut:

Doc, Jones, Plow
Saad, Weitering, Williamson
Walsh, Setterfield, Williams
TDK, Cripps, Merrett
Martin, McKay, Kemp
Fisher, Curnow, SPS
I/C: Stocker, Cunners, LOB, Philp

That's without Dow, and assuming we don't preference a couple of workmanlike Newnes/Gibbons/Newman types. If Paddy is the key that unlocks someone like Merrett, Macrae, Kelly...take it and run.

Don't offload him for picks for the sake of it, but remain open to letting him go as a player with some currency remaining.

Let’s just go for broke this trade period! To supposedly nail Williams so early I think is huge for the club and will really prick the ears up of other players possibly looking at coming to us.
I’d really try to lock saad in now ASAP and then just keep going and get right in the ears of your merrets, tarranto, kelly, laird, graham ect and just see what we can shake out?

Still reckon they should have seperate pages/websites for those who are only interested in one or the other.

With all the cuts to staff, don’t reckon the club has enough resources to run multiple accounts and sites, would make sense to have all stuff sent to one person who posts it in one spot.

Also easier for fans of both to stay up to date rather than following multiple accounts. Hard for Carlton to promote one club then have different and/or lessor resources for either the men or women.

Might be time to embrace it and get some extra benefit from taking an interest in the AFLW.

So exciting, getting Williams and so early on in the piece. Complete opposite to last year. Hopefully Saad for a second and an A or B+ grade mid to help Cripps out ( still like the idea of Wines, but no idea of his value) love the idea of Williams in the middle and Saad replacing Simmo, although no one will ever really truly replace him
