The thing you have to understand is while Andrews is insane with some of these measures ultimately he ain't calling the shots. He is a part of a system.
Put it this way Bob the senior manager in the PS probably hates masks but has to enforce as that's what he is told.
Politicians are taking their advice from health bureaucrats who are taking their advice from overseas bodies (we can't end up like UK etc) who are funded by Big Pharma who want to prolong this thing.
5 key players imo and this is covered partly before:
Big Pharma = A Gold mine. Inject everyone reap the $$$ and control.
Big Business = Crush all competition
Big Tech= Everything goes tech. Delivery, Currency etc it all increases their power. The ability to trace and control and stamp their imprint.
Big Media= Tricky one. They'll report whatever but most media is Big Tech. TV news and newspapers while still in existence tend to take their feeds off the internet.
Big Gov= When don't they love a good surveillance state?

So there is all this pressure to keep the narrative going and its an unstoppable force in of itself. Look while i think Andrews is nuts and hopefully goes he is a product of the system. He is a Labor public service man so is just going to follow the health and other bureaucracies and take their recommendations. So will most of them.
Maybe Libs a bit less but they will follow their pay masters big business. Why Gladys who probably thinks its bullshit has no choice but to go along with masks and social distance because her backers (who provide the party funds and her employment) demand she do it. Why Labor backbenchers everywhere else who think its insane have to tow the party line or risk employment.

You need someone powerful outside the system to fight the narrative. Bit like Trump (but not him as he is not really a leader and is a moron,). Elect small fish independents all you want but they will sell out. Jokes on us who vote the same way and never call these people out. You need someone outside the system. All those inside have been bought off and are following orders.

In a way it is how we live/choices and necessity. We all need money and are after it yet people will follow whatever path that gives them bang for their buck. We do it all the time. We follow stuff or spin bullshit to sell something to survive. It's a matter of degrees. Why I don't hold out much hope.

Part of the reason I'm so pissed. (on a personal level) I'm pushing my 40s and have a limited window before I get old and health is a lottery. Need to live. What do people think? We'll wait a decade or 4 and we can be safe and you can live it up in your zimmer frames.
Sure there is a time to plan for retirement and the future. But also a quote exists..............
Sacrifice the now for the future if a) you can guarantee it and b) you can predict it
