Autopsy Round 15 = Collingwood 79-91 Fremantle

Fyfe out, that’s half their side..We should of beaten them in Melbourne.
Fyfe has slowed down. I'd argue Moore is more important in the role he plays for us in the background, than a guy who is basically playing around half forward these days and has only kicked 5 goals in a dozen games.. Add JDG and Howe, and I doubt there is an argument there.

Do people realise we are 15th? The whole 'we should of beaten them..' suggests we are more of a top 8 team.

‘We are a better team without Grundy, definitely’
‘Grundy makes us no better than Lynch’
‘We are no good with Grundy’

I honestly think some of you are some of the most bipolar and uneducated supporters I have ever seen in my life. Genuinely pathetic. Without Grundy we are dog shit, but don’t let it get in the way of the romanticising-of how better we could’ve spent the money than on him. What an absolute crock this thread is.

1 DISPOSAL IN THE 2ND HALF!!!!!! Would be difficult to get any worse than that. Particularly with only 1 tackle for the whole game.
Yes you can. Remember his game against Essendon last year? One of the worst games by an individual for decades.

Drop Grundy next week and bring Lynch in. I'll guarantee we will play better.

Since of late he has failed to make a presence. Messy ruck work, drops marks, can't take a contested possession. Unfortunately he has become a liability.

23 touches (9CP), 25 hitouts, 7 marks (3 contested) and 2 goals.

Hahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahahhahah and you my friend are a peanut.

Nobody's saying Grundy is a poor player by any stretch. But his opponent Darcy had 18 touches, 9 clearances (Brodie had 2), and 5 centre clearances, including three crucial centre breaks in the last quarter when we'd levelled the scores. And his ruckwork led to the Dockers winning clearances by 11. So in terms of impact, they're not miles apart. I'd say it was a 50/50 as to who took the points between them.

Brodie is an All Australian footballer and is obviously quality. But he's no longer dominating his opponent like he used to, and instead is having these tight, split decision encounters with ruckmen who are on a fraction of his wage. That's the only part that hurts us – the million dollar pricetag.

Cameron only had 2 possessions inside F50. While Cox only had 3 himself, I think he had greater impact inside F50 without the footy. That's what Cameron needs to add to his game.

Cameron has been one of the improvers this season. He did kick 4 against one of the best defences this season, two weeks ago.
I thought today Cameron wasn't given a good opportunity deep inside F50 today, as we had to play Cox there, and again really don't get why Cox even played today...

Have you seen the sheer size of Darcy? He is a monster. And very quickly joining the big 3 rucks this year, you only have to look at his last 6-8 weeks of football. His next contract (end of this year?) will see him get PAID. So yes as of right now it hurts (the $$ difference) but Darcy is a gun when fit and will get paid accordingly.
Freo’s midfield also shits over ours LOL - Brayshaw Cerra Serong Mundy are all good inside mids, Mundy and Brayshaw both very good clearance mids too. Our midfield sucks balls, just admit that and then you might not wonder why we get beaten on occasion. We can’t ever move forward if we keep relying on Pendles to save our ass every week. Adams is our only true clearance player. We missed JDG today.

Yes Brodie is an AA footballer and his contract won’t hurt us if we structure it right, but what I’m saying is blokes calling him out to be dropped and saying we are a better team without him are nonsensical.

By "worst team defence" you mean the way Freo easily swept the ball out of our forward line, then just ran the ball quickly up the ground into an open forward line -then fair enough. But it wasn't the fault of our backline players, it started way up the field and at clearances. If you were choosing a side to play next week from all the players out there today from both sides, I'd have well over 50% of them from Fremantle.

With selection of 3 ruck/forwards in Cox, Cameron and Grundy we were exposed with leg speed as they transitioned the ball out of our forward line -and our ex coaches knew it. At the other end Mayne and Madgen just not any where close to a replacement of Darcy Moore even combined. Roughead is the only one tall enough to cover their talls so no surprise here that Lobb kicked goals because we couldn’t cover Taberner and Lobb. We also need an intercepting defender to replace Howe/Moore. Otherwise Maynard and Quaynor are less effective attacking as Crisp is now in the midfield. You take away our attack from defence.

At least if you play Keane/Kelly instead of Madgen and we lose there is progress getting games into a young defender who may improve. I did wonder if they may use one of the ruck talls is defence to help or Murphy?

That isn’t even the main problem today as it was the midfield which regressed.
Jordy back in the midfield next week will make a difference. A midfield of De Goey, Adams, Crisp, Pendles is actually pretty good IMO. Then rotate others through to gain experience.

I was completely unsurprised about this result looking at the selections and the match ups. Once McCreary went off , we lost that elite forward pressure and I expected it would be doubly hard.

On the upside, next year’s fixture should be good;Bianco kicked some nice goals and can play; Maynard plays with heart so I forgive him the 50m penalty because it was such an outrageous decision that was a momentum killer but we had other missed opportunities; Poulter is a player and in 8 more games will progress. Tay Tay is back and will be better next week for the run. Most importantly, Grundy is looking handsome with his new hair (that one’s for Vicky Park).

Our scrubber midfield blitzed the ladder leading Demon's last match and there was no Grundy to "save" us on that occasion.

So you think Lynch (2 clearances) and 3 HOTA (out of his 23 total hitouts) caused us to win the clearances last week?

So how many clearances did Grundy get? 2 compared to his opposite number's 9. Thats the issue you're failing to comprehend.

And Lynch had 2 clearances last week and it was the best thing since sliced bread by some of you? Grundy averages 6+ clearances a game, not sure what the issue is. He had a monster game in other stats.

"Play the ball, not the man".

That was astounding. You understand and don't care when they miss that guy being in wrong spot when he doesn't actually effect play, but when he actually cuts off the ball - how could all three unpires possibly miss it and let it go?

Hahahahhaha you’re a clown.
No, I think that Lynchs unpredictability in tapping down the ball to areas where the oppo mids couldn't antcipate it, played a big part in us getting the ball going our way out of the centre when we played Melbourne.
No need for the personal abuse beligerent one, just trying to have a civil discussion.

So you give me a LiOL Silky23. That all you got? No rebuttal I see, can't fault my argument. On your bike sunshine

No discussion regarding Sidebottom…? I thought he had a shocker, hands were way off, disposal ordinary and pressure next to zero..

That's his normal game no discussion needed

I thought his disposal was good, for the first time for a while, but his hands and reading of the ball flight have just fallen away dramatically - I'd be sending him to an optician.

I wonder what his DE% was ? With his handling he seems to have forgotten to watch the ball…
