Would be a good get, but others in the 2nd and 3rd round also appeal

But, I believe we need 2 ready to go, another 2 developing

Depends how we line up

TKD isn’t ready for first ruck duties full time

Pitto is still out best “Ruckman”

There has been some posts re Ladhams, which would work better in tandem with TKD imo….pitto as back up (VFL)

Then we have the conundrum of being too tall when all of Gov, JSOS, Charlie and Harry are available to play forward

We could send Gov back, particularly early in the season until Marchy is fit (hopefully)

Edit Talia as a DFA would reply add some depth to our backs although I see him as a perfect fit for Richmond with Ashbury hanging them up

How does Gubcus compare to Grainger-Barass, whom I know you were a big fan of (as was I)?

When we discuss delisting players, I always look at the player and the draft pick that we'd 'get' for delisting him. For mine, I'd keep Cottrell, Gibbons, Newnes if they're cheap enough, salary cap wise, rather than obtain another draft pick such as 50/60/80 on an untried kid who more than likely won't play a game for us. UNLESS we have the nous to package those picks up for something favourable - history wise that generally doesn't happen. I think teams in the AFL* are too quick to jettison players out on the basis that you get another draft pick deep into shallow drafts.

My thoughts are to keep these guys on the list and keep depth. I pose the question, would I prefer Gibbons to be our back up forward pocket playing in the VFL than some kid that's untried and probably playing out of position (a midfielder at pick 60?). Depth is one thing we haven't had in previous years and are only starting to build that now.

*All the while understanding that the AFL require each team requires a turnover of players to keep the industry going.

I think that's pretty much how the club goes about it. Some are delisted early because we've given up. Then there are usually one or two who are in limbo pending the draft.

This is pretty funny. Guessing the swear filter got fooled by your accidental typo or auto correct doesn't like "ruck"?

I'm a little confused, we delist Casboult and play Silvagni in the ruck
He's cooked - plus, we have Pitto who up until he got injured was 3rd or 4th for total hitouts in the league. Not super effective, but he can definitely compete and is a straighter kick for goal than Casboult is too.

Ladhams is on my wishlist, he would be super complimentary to TDK and we'd effectively the most athletic ruckman in the comp (TDK) followed by one of the next most athletic ruckman in the comp in Ladhams. You could easily play them both.

They're similar standard prospects IMO, the difference is in how they play.
DGB is better suited playing the CHB where he can read the play and slide across to intercept.
Gibcus is more aggressive and IMO a better 1v1 player, for this reason I rate Gibcus higher for our needs as he's more likely to be the player that can anchor your backline

Pitto is break glass option at this stage. Unless Harry is going to do some ruck work, we need another TDK type, someone like a Ladhams, Chol. That would mean we would struggle to have all of Charlie, Jsos, Gov in the forwardline. Marchbank can be moved to the rookie list so Gov could play as a 3rd tall defender

So, a Levi replacement, a KPP swingman/KPD (Ballenden, Brander type) and a developing KPD. Thats a minimum of 3 for needs. Keep OMac on the list as a backup forward or back

As much as I like Cas, we really need to move away from players that really aren't that smart on the field. He's at an age where he's not going to get any better...I think it's time.
Plus the strength in his came seemed to fall away this year, his contested pack marking. Just couldn't pluck them like he used to and if he's not clunking 2 or 3 marks down the line then he has nothing else to his game he can fall back on. It's a fairly small kit bag of skills he has.

Gold Coast just keep providing the lols

Still, it’s great if Levi could still play football.

Has been a great clubman and has really worked on his game.

His knee is pretty bung, but if he moves to a warmer climate like Queensland he might get another year or 2 out of it.
