Regardless of the head coaching call, a huge 2022 looms for Dow, O’Brien, SPS, Fisher & Setterfield. None have ever nailed a full time role. All have been in-out either due to form or injury.

I would say not one of them has shown they can play a full 4 quarter game if AFL footy and be in the best 3-4 on the ground.

Our next midfield coach will be a critical appointment as these players really will decide if our list goes one way or the other.

There’s a bit of Darcy Parish about LOB I reckon, eerily similar players (at the same age). Parish is exhibit A that sometimes it takes a while for a player to reach their full potential. Just need to start pumping some games in to him IMO. His defensive efforts are a lot better than what they were previously, he now just needs to consistently get the ball in his hands.

Don't see the logic in trading our youngsters. We have little to gain from trading them for low pics. Wouldn't want to lose them until our new coach has had a chance to work with them. Parish and Laverde are two good examples of players turning it around albeit it slowly. Many supporters have given up on them too soon. If they want to stay and possess a professional attitude, I would persevere. Don't think Teague had much success developing them and who knows another coach may.

I know the commentators were belting LOB last night but he really worked into the game. I thinks it’s all between the ears for him. He took the contested ball a few times and took the tackle. Chased well
And ‘boy oh boy’ his kick is sublime. That is a serious weapon.
I also loved how he just burnt that guy on the wing. He’s starting to go for it. My hope is that any new coaches give him clarity and confidence cause he’s the type that makes transition happen and makes coaches/teams look really good.

Don’t claim to be an ITK but Ross is a done deal with McQualter to follow. Hayes has been sounded out but isn’t too sure as he doesn’t particularly want to head back to Melbourne but hasn’t said no just yet

Happy for Admins to message me if they want

smart bloke Hayes, who would want to move to Melbourne right now…

Talk of us going after Riccardi,do we need another tall forward?

Yep. Can play forward and has spent some time down back in the gws reserves, think he had 41 in round 1 as a defender.
Can’t imagine he’d cost much and gives us good cover at both ends of the ground.

Weitering, Jones*, Marchbank+*, Kemp+, Plowman+, McDonald*, McGovern+, Parks+

McKay, Curnow, McGovern+, Silvagni+*, McDonald*, TDK(ruck)

TDK, Pitto+*, Mirvok+*

*injured coming into last round.
+not really key fwd or def

I think Riccardi would be a good addition.

Head coach is the most important position in a club. More important than a head of football.

The wrong head coach is more detrimental than the wrong head of football.
The other way round. HC is one aspect of footy department. Albeit an important one but still a good HoF would/should be proactive in making sure effective changes are made to coaching technique or coach/player relationships etc. his job is to keep everyone on the same page...not pull in different directions.

Rumor has it that the AFL is offering Clarko huge bucks to head Gold Coast's football department on the proviso he gets to spend the time with his family that he wants to.

Amazing how the media change their tune from week to week. The last month they have whacked Teague on how bad we have been. Now the media are trying to position themselves to say we are treating him poorly and he doesn’t deserve sacking due to lack of support. They’re already gunning for Ross Lyon before he has even got the job despite him just being refreshingly honest in his media commitments. Sure the Leigh Matthews story was a bit of fluff but Ross calls things as they are & didnt shirk away from the hard hitting questions.

The media did the same with Ratts. Hung him out to dry when he coached us but as soon as we moved him on he was lauded as some kind of super coach.

From a supply and demand position it makes sense, a lot of blues fans out there clicking links and engaging, drives traffic and eyeballs on ads.

Can you remember last trade period? The Dogs demanded two first rounders for Dunkley and didn’t budge, told him to suck it up and it appears he is happy

I think you’re really overeating the value of pick 6, thinking it could get us a player like Smith or Dunkley and really operating Dow,if you think he would get us a pick anywhere in the 1st round.
Dunkley was contracted.
