nice, so you're saying we can play him as a HBFer 🤣

Never enough HBF'ers ... wait till we trial Pitto there next year.

I’m now comfortable that Clarkson is not happening.
Voss to me seems like winning a cheap consolation prize.
I have never and will never support Lyon.

For me, I hope they approach or have approached Chris Scott. GEE are imploding at all levels for some reason. Chris has definite coaching cred and we could use that.

Let’s all relax…barass and ockhams have both said Lyon is back in play
Exactly! Let’s not scare off the itk’s! Embrace and respect there info they provide us and if it’s wrong it’s wrong!
keep the rumours coming in I say.
looking forward to more reports of whom we may or may not be getting regards to the rest of the available positions

A light canter is good for the soul.

If Lyon is back in, I 'm glad I started getting used to the idea months ago. Cook likes him we were told. And OR (whom I do rate with good reason, even though he is relatively new to this site) tells us he is interested again...so now we get on a different ride if we choose. For those that have the fortitude.

Who do we prefer from Lyon Voss and Kingsley?

I will trust that whoever we sign has impressed upon the panel their understanding of the current game, their ability to form relationships and their willingness to think critically on the fly rather than hold on doggedly to a preconcieved gameplan or "style".

Gut instinct says that Voss and Kingsley would be better fits than Lyon. I don't know for sure, and would happily be proven wrong, but I think Ross is in it for Ross and that may not be the right type of personality to put in charge of our list. The best modern day coaches seem to be those who drive improvement in their players for the sake of their players and the team. One who sees the players as a means to their own end runs the risk of damaging the culture of the club even more, when we need to unite it.

The other consideration, and one that I was musing on more in relation to Clarko than to Lyon, but is still probably applicable, is whether a "hard-arse, experienced coach" gets the same response/results from being a hardarse on day one at a new club, or if that approach works only when they have a long history with their club/players. If a new manager comes on board at my workplace and immediately starts pulling people into their office and shouting them down, people would likely go into self-preservation mode. But if the manager I've had for 5 years, who I know values their team and has gone in to bat for them on numerous occasions, does the same - then we all know it's because someone ****ed up monumentally and deserved a bake.

mates of mine who barrack for the cats hate C Scott - they reckon he is a shit coach when it comes to the crunch finals time.

What would you like an opinion on?
I was wondering if you like the bicycle that I had made? The frame, originally built by a 'bespoke' bike builder in West Footscray in the 1970s, is a one-off. And while the bike looks a little weighted it is actually faster that my 'semi-racer'.

Many on here are critical of blokes like Voss and Lyon for reasons I am not sure of. What I do know is that many of the Geelong supporters I know would gladly like to see the back of this bloke despite his win % above 70 and countless finals appearances. I wonder how he would go with a team like ours?

Splendid. Being a blue blood carlton supporter all my life, I am quite taken with living in the past ;)

I am going with the George Costanza theory of doing the opposite of what I normally do.
I never wanted Ratts sacked, but I supported Malthouse. I also was 100% on board with Bolton, and subsequently fully behind Teague getting the job. Where did that get us?
As much as I loved him as a player (always above Buckley and Hird for mine), I have never wanted Voss as a coach. Until now.
I will do the opposite and go against my natural instinct to want Clarko or Ross, and say bring on Vossy!

Foolproof theory.
