no, just a footy icon at my club passed away, Kerry Oneill, 67 years of supporting the essendon football club, well he is a footy icon in tasmania football, was inducted in to the hall of fame for his 50 years of service. and my dad just wanted to email the efc just to let them know and see just what they might do.



Wynyard, Coast have lost a legend Tassie football hall-of-famer found dead in his home

FORMER Wynyard Football Club general manager - and North-West sporting legend - Kerry O'Neill was found dead on Monday. He was 67.
O'Neill was involved with his beloved Cats for more than 50 years serving as secretary or general manager from 1963-83 and then again from 1990 to 2003.
He was general manager during the Cats' last three premierships, the club's NTFL director for 13 years from 1990, made a life member of the club following its 1975 NWFU premiership and made a life member of both the NWFU (1981) and NTFL (2003) a year after being inducted into the NTFL Hall of Fame.
The NTFL also named its under 19s best and fairest in his honour in 1999.
O'Neill's was also inducted into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame last year to mark his 50 years of service to Wynyard.
Wynyard president Bill Walker said the club would recognise his passing and contribution at its next home game on May 5.
Walker said it hoped many people who knew O'Neill would join with the Cats on that occasion.
Walker said it was a huge loss for the entire Wynyard community.
"The club is particularly pleased that we were able to sneak in an under 19s premiership for him last year. He really enjoyed that," Walker said.
NTFL general manager Ian Wotherspoon said O'Neill's passing was a sad day for the North-West football community.
"It is a shock to everyone involved in football on the North-West particularly," he said.
"It is very unlikely that there will be another Kerry O'Neill and we were blessed in our lifetime to benefit from his loyalty and passion for the Wynyard Football Club, the NTFL and also the Essendon Bombers." Funeral arrangements are yet to be finalised.
