Trying to reverse engineer the 28 who trained:

Ryan, Waterman, Gaff, Langdon, Redden, Naitanui, SPS, Kelly, Ledwards, Kennedy, Hough, McGovern, Petch, Winder, Witherden, XON, Hurn, Trew, Darling, Foley, Nelson, Jones, Jilliams, Rotham, West, Jamieson, Dixon, Hedwards, Naish

That’s 29, so one mystery player is missing.

Edit: Jilliams according to Steve Allen.

If it stays that way, that's a decent squad to pick from & hopefully we get the same level of effort as against Norf.

FB: Hurn Hedwards Rotham
HB: Witherden McGovern Foley
C: Gaff West Naish
HF: Jones Darling SPS
FF: Ryan Kennedy Petch
R: Naitanui Kelly Redden
I: Dixon Waterman XON Nelson (Ledwards)
E: Langdon Winder Hough Jamieson Trew Jilliams

Can we still play the top ups? The fact we still can't name a team should mean there is a chance.
Would love to see The pr0n man and Giro go again. Giro for the BOG Medal :p

Doesn’t sound like any of the top ups that played have trained this week.

Good news. 11 out of 12 back from iso but Shuey, Duggan, Rioli, Bailey Williams and Barrass out under Covid. Schumacher, Pearson and Luke Meadows at training too.

The craziest build-up in western derby history continued on Friday morning when star ruckman Nic Naitanui headlined a big group of West Coast players who returned to training following their COVID isolation period.

The Eagles had 11 of the 12 players who were in isolation for last weekend’s game at training, with defender Tom Barrass still missing.

It has been a revolving door as West Coast get hit with another wave of the virus, with Luke Shuey, Willie Rioli, Liam Duggan, Bailey Williams and Barrass absent.

WAFL top-up players Luke Meadows, Chad Pearson and Angus Schumacher joined the session. Wingman Andrew Gaff trained separately wearing runners after missing the loss to North Melbourne with a foot injury. More to come

Top ups were better than some on the list - play them
Wonder what the ruling is on that...you can't have a rolling list of 60 players, so some would say you only play top-ups if you don't have enough listed players. But some listed players are clearly developing and not ready to play, as we found out last week. We shouldn't have to play a kid in the midfield ahead of someone like Aaron Black, who is clearly more ready to plug in and play.

You can bring them in to train if the number of available listed players falls below 30 and can play them if the number falls below 28.

In: Hedwards, Rotham, Nelson, Redden, Gaff, Naitanui, Dixon, Kennedy, Waterman, Jones, Langdon, Hough (sub)
Out: Jamieson, Dewar, Duggan, Mountford, Giro, Williams, Williams, Rioli, Shuey, Black, Ainsworth, Ledwards (sub)

Just the 12 changes likely at this stage, by my reckoning.

Back to land of the giants

Back to land of the giants

Edwards, Gov and Rotham (not a true tall) down back.
NicNat rucking with Dixon as backup.
Kennedy, Darling and Waterman (not a true tall) up forward.

Looks alright to me?

As I say, it's a harsh call if you have 28 or 29 listed players available but five or six of them are first year draftees or project talls not ready to actually play. Teams don't build a list of 42 players all ready to play. You build a list for the future as well.

Any news on Chesser? Heard zilch. Is he still in WA or is he back in Vic? Is he walking laps yet? Anybody know anything?

I think we can put a line through this season - it was a 4 month job, so that probably means 6 months in Eagles speak….then there’s the inevitable soft tissue injury in the build up to a WAFL return followed by being put back on ice for 2023 Pre Season (which may or may not feature additional surgery for a previously undisclosed foot injury - on the other leg, obviously).

Bugger.

Dunno who we leave out though. Maybe Dixon, get Edwards to play backup ruck?

Leave Dixon out and chuck Darling in the ruck. Tell him Lloyd Meek has strong feelings about the spherical nature of Earth, really get him fired up for a proper crack.
