I reckon Papley will get off, wasn't much in it.
Should get a week for his selfish tendencies.
Was involved in a few score involvements but could easily have given off another 4 goals that he missed when he should have handballed to players in better scoring positions instead of taking the snap.
2.5 says I'm correct with one of his goals a gift from Buddy from 4 metres out.
Yeah I'm harsh but still annoyed over last week.
I saw no difference between last night's first & second quarters compared to last week against the Bombers. We should have been up by 7 goals in both games. Bulldogs then kicked 3.5 in the second. Bombers just kicked straight. We gave up 8 shots after dominating.
Lucky the Dogs were crap.

Reid looks fit

Warner has everything you need

Still not sold on stephens

Paddy throwing back in my face

No doubt Stephens can get better. Confidence will grow. We've nothing to lose at this point.
After his big goal against the Tigers last year at the G I knew we had something special in Warner.
He will become our Dusty.

Na, we stopped their momentum in kicking quick goals and it was the quarter Ladhams went off injured which would've stuffed our structure for a little bit. We've had previous games where teams would've kicked like 5 goals within 10mins in that quarter but last night we didn't let them. That's a massive improvement imo.

To an extent but certainly the first half of the quarter we dropped off. As I said though, came back well and recovered from it which we didn't the previous week against the Bombers.

Perhaps our most four quarters performance was actually the previous week against the Saints. This was close though.

Quite happy with Stephens leave him in and let him gain confidence . Apologies to Clarke , still not happy with Hayward.

Hayward is unwatchable at this point.

Just a theory but I reckon our game is too quick for him. We have a lot of quick thinkers and instinctive players who can make things happen in the blink of an eye or the space of a telephone box. And then the ball gets to Hayward and I feel like all of his possessions should be accompanied by a little pop-up message on my TV saying "Not Responding". Just doesn't know what he's doing too often.

Sadly could be another Rohan , has to do more with 10 touches . I really hope he gets better .

The question is do we want a tagger in the side. If we do then Clarke is the obvious choice. He is good at it and using Clarke means not potentially negating Mills by using him to tag.
I say yes. Every team has a player they depend to generate play off HB that Clarke can negate. Could also swing him onto a midfield opponent as well if required. Plus he does seem to have a goal in him when given the opportunity. If he can maintain his form, he should stay.

warner was awesome too

taking nothing away from Reid, his pressure was awesome

But is English the softest player in the comp? got his pants pulled down by a fill in ruck
I think at this point in his career, any performance Reid can give us like that is a bonus. He is fit so that's perhaps helping him perform these last few weeks at a better level than he has for a number of years now.

Wow half glass full! 17 score involvements from Papley and you are calling him selfish. Do you recall the centred kick to mills on the stoke of half time? Or the 2 or 3 hand ball that led to goals. You've made him guilty by association of last week. Shocking support of one of best forwards of the last 5 year.s Some constructive criticism is fine and he deserved it last week. Get over last week - players make mistakes.
And wow you're comparing out first and second first quarter to last week!! How about rather than the dogs were crap - we were awesome. We maintained pressured rating over 200 the whole night - the best in the comp all season. The dogs were very good for about 10 mins in the second quarter and the dogs kicked 3 and we kicked 2. Hardly an insipid quarter.

Well hi there folks

Yesterday was to put it mildly interesting. Not for the first time I agreed to take a S. Reid issued cheque. A decades's experience of holding a bag of feathers may have deterred me but Reidy said he would avoid kicking for goal.

Oh I am so naive. I accepted Reid's cheque, as much in sorrow as expectation. As usual I opened the gladstone bag during play. Instead of Penguin feathers, it was chockers with hit-outs, clearances and tackles. Never had such a bounty been delivered.

Actually I think English became gun-shy of being tackled when he grabbed the ball.

All in all an enjoyable win. From the post game interview TommyP has the irrits with his kicking.and that he is spending a lot of practice goal kicking. Looking forward to him getting it right.

Maybe the fine performances of others takes much of the focus but I’m surprised by the lack of excitement about Rowy’s game.
Not suggesting he was BOG or that he did it single-handedly but, on first viewing, he absolutely bossed Libba, McCrae and Co. in the centre square.

If Reid keeps this up, he might be hard to keep. I could see a club desperate for a forward / ruck coming in with a juicy pre-retirement offer for him. Thinking Norf, Dogs, Melbourne, GWS all making a play. I would imagine we wouldn't have put aside too much cash to re-sign Sam given where he was at earlier this year.

He is so damaging. Good things happen when he is involved. I'd just like him to be more involved.

I agree. There seems to be something alot of our fellow armchair critics who see big flaws in his game to the point where he's regularly listed as trade bait.

He does his current job well, competing hard and often nullifying some of his more fancied opponents. His pressure gives Warner, Mills and Parker the room to shine. I suspect he will never be an out and out A grader but happy to have him on our list to do the grunt work.

Rowy’s competitiveness was outstanding last night, When Paps gets it right bags of 5 will flow, to be getting the shots on goal he is getting is remarkable. Whilst frustrating to see the misses, there were not too many where he was not entitled to take a shot. 17 score involve tens backs the view.

Some players are unfortunate to play roles that see the ball kicked over their head most of the night, not everyone is high possession mid or half back where the pill is more plentiful. Their work off the ball and in defence needs to be taken into account when judging, players just need moments in a game. Hayward and Gulden lately fall into this category for mine, things turn.

Agree with leaving Stephen’s in, wish he had a yard more pace though.

Reid is on fire atm and easily one of the best w Papley last night. Great to see Reid w the confidence he has, he drove English mad last night with his willingness for contact.

Let’s not forget, we have played 2 games back to back where the result should have been in the bag by half time ….qtr time last night. We need to fix it .

Looking back at the 2020 draft, the top ten look relatively mediocre when stacked up against other years. We look to have hit the jackpot with McDonald and Campbell when you look at the list. JUH to be compared to,Buddy was a deadset insult. He probably struggles to be a first round selection in retrospect.
