Don't like the singling out when you're on the receiving end. Intriguing.
Want my view? I've posted it. Pitto for JSOS, rest the lionheart (against his wishes but for his benefit), play TDK as the third forward/ruck relief. Hewett for literally whichever mid is most in need of a spell. Would consider resting a young small forward like Durdin or Motlop if there is someone suitable to replace them.
Now this I haven't posted, but thinking about it further, that last could potentially be an avenue to fit Dow in. Give any or all of Cotters, Kennedy, Fisher, Cripps etc. some more forward time, rejig the midfield/wing rotations accordingly, and free up enough time for Dow to do a 50/25/25 mid/fwd/bench split.
He might not be a gun forward, but I do agree with the earlier poster who suggested he'd have a hard time failing to match the output of a Durdin or Motlop on a per minute basis. Not good for him to be pigeon-holed there for entire games, but 25% TOG in the forward line would be viable if he can have a big impact in 50% TOG on the ball.
I’ll have one of each, please.Do you think my post was solely directed at you? But I guess the other part of the post was completely ignored as well
I get it, you and a few others want Dow in, I want the best team picked
And a rush on the order.what makes you so certain? looked very sore before coming off.Don’t doubt you have far superior knowledge here…..but……not a hope in hell Worpa misses.
Zero chance.

Not even on the wing?
Well because I study him like a hawk. As you know. He is hyper competitive. To a level I don’t recall in any Carlton player. Competitive as a team. As an individual. He’s desperate to be the best. Specific evidence is that he had ankle surgery for his syndesmosis and played a month later. A month. Not sure anyone before or since has recovered as quickly. He was clearly under done as shown by his form up to round 8. Probably playing sore. He played because he wants to win. He played because he wants team and I focus l accolades. He wants it ALL. He has an insatiable appetite to be the greatest he can possibly be. Miss no games. He would rather play under done, back his smarts, add to his career, give his team a slightly better chance of winning….and back himself to get better again by the following week. He will ice it, rest it, mobilise it, treat it. Even if inflammation is up he will strap it and take pain killers. He just won’t miss. He’s still an AA chance. B+F chance. We are still a top 4 chance. Need to win fo get top 8.what makes you so certain? looked very sore before coming off.
ok he played it out (and played well) but there has to be a chance he doesnt make it.
you dont need to be a medical doctor to know that.
IMO : Would not be a 'hard time' - it would be an impossible and unfair ask of Dow to try and have repeat burst speed defensive efforts as a small and then come on in. rotation and expect to win the hard ball and dispose properly within a team system - he hasn't got the tank for it and has not trained or played in such a role - no way does Voss toss out his playbook to 'fit' Dow in as you and others are suggesting - at the cost of weakening other parts of his structure and team game - As a forward he is up against aa returning Owies /Martin as well as blokes Voss likes atm in Honey/Durdin and Motlop all of whom a re atouch or two away from kicking 2-3 games - no way does Voss chuck the development and cohesion away to fit DOw in for 25% of time as a witches hat.
More likely though that he gets a game as a mid because Hewett is no certainty for the Adelaide game and neither is Walsh.
Dow is exactly where he should have been in years one and two of his career - working on his craft in VFL and improving every week eg LDU has only come on this year at Norfs ...doesn't need to wear faux congratulations about where he is - he has a group of coaches around him that know what it takes for a player to succeed - finally.
With the fitness levels of our squad right now I think the idea of a ruck spending 50 minutes of the game on the bench isn't just a luxury, it's a fantasy.I think that if we play 2 rucks Pitto will be ready as he can have lengthy breaks. 3 wings is a luxury, though Cotters could play High half forward for much of the game with Honey closer to goal. Sadly for Dow I don't think they are going to drop LOB or Setters after the weekends game. Setters got plenty and generally used it well and LOB put the ball in the slot for his forwards to mark, even if this weeks some of it was more good luck than skill.
Which one of his 1 inside 50’s did you not like?
It came off, but that was a blind clearance.Ooh, ooh, I know!
The one with a little over 10 mins on the clock in the third quarter that landed in Charlie's lap, leading to a goal.
Was the worst.

Doc gets a bit headless when he receives the ball in the attacking half. Never averaged more than 0.4 for goal assists in his career and you can see why when he kicks into the 50.
By far his greatest weakness as a player, and why I'm happy for him to never be a winger.

Sam Walsh ain’t watching on this week. No ******* way.

do you reckon he has the chance of becoming the goat carlton player by the end of his career?Well because I study him like a hawk. As you know. He is hyper competitive. Only averages 2.6 inside 50s a game, not a lot when you consider he’s getting the ball 28 times a game. Don’t think it’s a major issue, even if it is a weakness. With the fitness levels of our squad right now I think the idea of a ruck spending 50 minutes of the game on the bench isn't just a luxury, it's a fantasy.

But the big question is ..I am a Norwood person![]()
Doc had been hitting fwd targets but has been missing of lateOUT: Motlop
IN: Dow
Fisher back up the ground more, Walsh more on the outside.
Get the feeling that Hewett won't come up and Pittonet won't be ready, while Martin and Owies should return via VFL to assess their fitness.
Use fresh legs instead of trying to hold everything together with sticky tape.
It's also absolutely critical that we're minimising how often Docherty gets the opportunity to send the ball inside 50, he's genuinely below average at hitting a target there once the zone is setup.
Tell him to go for goal if it's on, but otherwise draw a player and fire off a handball.
could be rightOut: Motlop and Durdin
In: pitto and hewett
Fisher returns to play majority forward but will swap with Cotterell lob and setters on the wing at times a move up as the HHF.
Pitto TDK will spend some time forward and bench with ruck duties. JSOS will be forward all game and play that forward pressure role he’s so good at. Will get a role on Dawson I guess.
Hewett will play a defensive role on laird which will ease him back in from the back issue.
Motlop is the obvious one out.So who goes out for pitto and Hewett
All the whipping boys ie Plowman obrien Setterfield Cottrell all played there roles on the wkend and of the small forwards honey was the best so i think one of Durdin or motlop miss out so not sure who goes out for Hewett
Was with a colleague today who is conected to someone at Richmond and they were saying how they are interested in how Dow will go next year, ie with them and that he won't be at Carlton next year. Bit concerning, hope it is not the case but coming from him makes me nervous.Completely different levels of footy, but Dow as a small forward? No way
Many seem really desperate to get him in
Depends what you call Judd and Williams given they played half their careers elsewhere and questionable as to whether they were at their best with us. He has every chance to be better than any other than those two that I’ve seen. Not because his best is better. But because his consistency is out of this world. And he tries harder than any player I can recall. Always. All game. Every game. Every training session. Every everyhting. I expect him to end his career as a multiple premiership player. Norm Smith medallist. 8x AA. 6 time B+F. Brownlow medallist.do you reckon he has the chance of becoming the goat carlton player by the end of his career?
I’m sure it’s been mentioned before but a quirk in the fixture that we have back to back interstate trips.

Even if Walsh does want to play.
With finals coming up - maybe it isn’t a bad idea to take the week off and ensure he’s at his peak for the last month.
Hewett comes back in and it isn’t a massive net loss.
