The pandemic was a field day for conspiracy theorists, the outcome of people being locked down and tracked everywhere allowed some imaginative joining of the dots.

I read The Psychology of Stupidity (edited by Marmion) during lockdown, and it was interesting to read the delineation between a liar and a bullshitter (yes they actually used those terms).
A liar manipulates the truth, a bullshitter just doesn't care about the truth. Trump, a bullshitter, primed so many people to swallow bullshit if it conformed to pre-existing notions that it became easier to feed such bullshit to certain groups of people.

QAnon is not built on lies, it's built on bullshit. Anything that is presented as evidence against Q 'information' is merely dismissed as part of the conspiracy, rinse and repeat. Any predictions that fail to materialize are quickly forgotten as the next Q post is available.
It's been interesting (if not a bit sad) to watch but there is a real understanding in academia on how some people do get sucked in down so far into the rabbit hole of misinformation.

I'd never thought of the difference between a liar and bullshitter to be honest ha ha. Sounds similar to something I heard a while back, paraphrasing but basically it said the bigger the lie the the easier it is to convince people that it's true, doesn't make sense on the surface but maybe it backs up the book you read.

And if you give people a lie they WANT to believe it's even easier I guess.

QAnon, just like Anonymous before it, has been infiltrated by the CIA. The only reputable source is Q. Q resurfaced briefly in June after posting nothing for over two years.
Stop posting bullshit so that you can then claim something down the track.

BTW Q and QAnon are used interchangeably when discussing far-right misinformation and conspiracies.

Or do you ever, in a quiet moment of reflection, ever consider just how far down the rabbit hole you really are?
