It’s worse than that

Assuming all 4 players listed as “Test” are passed fit we have 17 players unavailable- so 27 to choose from

We’ll take 24 to Adelaide (Starting 22 plus sub plus travelling emergency) leaving 3 behind for the Beagles - Dewar and 2 others

Pretty dire

Edit : With Maric we now have 45 on our list not 44, so we will have 28 to select from meaning Dewar and 3 others for the Beagles
If those 4 tests don't pass then we'll have 2,143 games of experience unavailable. I think our highest has been 1,982 in round 10

Also assuming there’s no more surprises between now and the weekend.

After watching the WAFL stream a few times now- it is beyong a joke. Far worse that I felt on the surface. The skill and style of play destroys and hope of development, particularly for forwards. A bold decision must be made.
I am amazed you still watch it. I stopped as what’s the point.

Well done wafc, put on a product that turns people away.

...The club can have a preferred position all it likes but has no direct control over the fate of our reserve players...

That's the million dollar question to me.

Would our draftees be better served and developed if they are played in a Ressies position they are suited for but not physically developed enough for at WAFL and AFL level? Or are they better developed by being exposed to a higher graded of footy but having to learn or go about their footy very differently to the reason they were drafted due to physical constraints? Obviously this is more directly relevant to on-ball players and KPP than flankers and smalls.

We seem trapped in a cycle of drafting square pegs and then bashing them into round holes for no result in recent years.

WAFL in financial trouble. Hopefully we turn up and are like

Now is the time to withdraw all funding the WAFL gets from us and take then to court for what we did give them to give it back to us

The commission held a meeting with all nine clubs — as well as heavyweights from both West Coast and Fremantle — in an attempt to save a league they say is relying too heavily on WAFC, amid dwindling crowd numbers and public interest at an all-time low.
If I was a West Coast representative at this meeting I'd be inclined to say to the commission "how about you reduce your bloated administration then a bit more of the millions we pay you lot every year could filter down to the WAFL clubs"

You are too kind

Time to be ruthless

They are on their knees begging. They can either kiss our shoes or get a punt to the head. Leave them with one of those 2 choices only

I’d like to abandon the WAFL altogether and like Gold Coast and GWS create a VFL team which will push the AFL towards a national reserves competition once and for all

I loved when our player were divided among the WAFL clubs tbh. Made every game a bit more relevant as a fan and the players could go down to reserves if needed.

If we can't get the dunderheads at Perth to align I'd rather we revert to that. Players gaining fitness and confidence at WAFL level is more important than attempting an AFL gamestyle that may not even be suited to that level and competition.

Oh no we cant do that.. the sheltered petals might have to play against each other and meet people not in the afl system .. cant have that impost on them.

I think it’s fairly proven that Peel Thunder/Freo method is the one that works the best.

Perth etc won’t do it and would rather the competition die then do that

So let it die and move on I say

The actual story about losing money due to a lack of interest and crowds is a lie. Crowds are better in 2023 then they were in 2018 and 2019 for example as is commercial sponsorship and interst

What is different though is this year they are due a government review into funding from the state government and so are just putting up these lies in order to eek more money from the state government. The below is the current agreement which is due a re negotiation.

No reason such a team need be 100% Perth based either. Logistic challenges can be minimised with a Melbourne sub center.

I do hope they forfeit.

Could they play against a WAFL reserves team?
